Dey, do you really think that I have not already looked at this issue? You have already identified the problems yourself. We do not have a programmer and even if I managed to find one that would be willing to program a new ladder(according to what we want....and determining exactly what everyone wants would be a separate headache) for free, I still have to find a free server. If it's PHP/MySQL then i can make you one. However, i should say that i'm a professional programmer but i'm not a professional PHP/MySQL programmer. And someone else should do HTML/CSS etc. design.

I have found a programmer and the ladder staff has a project under way, when it is at the point that it is ready for a live beta test I will be making an official beta announcement, until then details will remain confidential. CS That is awesome. See, I knew all you needed was a swift kick in the ass to do something. It's also great that Ellestar has volunteered, whether or not he's on this project, it's nice that he stepped up. Now you just have to be weary of all the other web developers/programmers who might criticize the outcome of your project, but at least you can challenge them to come up with something better. As for me, the ball is way out of my court and well, I can shut the hell up.

interesting.... I wonder how it'll be done. Case's assumes all games are 1v1s.... will it remain the same? Also will there be penalties for ranked people losing games? You know similar to a #2 college football team losing to an unranked rival <cough cough>

Cases does some stuff good and some stuff not so good. We will take the best ideas from everywere. CS

I hope this new ladder system will support several ladders. It will be nice to have a separate ladder for 1v1, teamer and cton - that will make ladders more meaningful. Also, then it will be easy to add a ladder for another game, like Civilization 5 or that Master of Magic-inspired TBS Stardock makes right now (it should be released in 2008).

I don't see a requirement for redundant ladders, game stats can handle the different games types easily. CS

a new ladder? how exiting (and overdue) Ooooooh, it's not that bad, once u get used to it . Plus, a new ladder will solve problems? It is bad outside Ladder too: (1) There's guy named osma, or something; he gets into every game; pauses games, and asks for a new game; every1 leaves; (2) There's guy named something; he gets into every game; deletes all units and leaves; every1 leaves; (3) There's guy named something-spook; he gets into every game; finds a pig and marks it "your mother"; finds a cow and marks it "your father"; ... every1 leaves; ...

lol, ok, that's not bad.
Snafu is an acronym for "situation normal, all f***ed up."
Fubar is an acrony for "f***ed up beyond all recognition."
Fubar situations are huge disasters, the kind that come with an implicit "get out of normal obligations free" card and often require a rethinking of where your future is headed.
Smaller snafu crises can be incredibly disruptive, but usually they're not life changing.
Ladder is not in snafu yet (well maybe occasionally), and far away from Fubar.
