Hmm, I thought ladder people didnt consider themselves "elite". I seem to remember a certain thread addressing "elitism". Goddess, I left what happened in C3P back at C3P. I think that's a good policy for us all to adopt, don't you?

Fried,
Im not trying to start anything with that response, just thought it odd that yall went round and round about the ladder not being comprised of an elitist attitude, yet I see its ugly head being reared yet again.
Just because you have 6 months or less under your belt and emailed spm to join the ladder does not constitute you as an elite player. I see many dishonest players both on and off the ladder, the ladder is not a badge of elitism. I see many terrible players on the ladder as well again, not a mark of elitism.
This is all I have and will say on this subject as I am seemingly the only one that will say what needs to be said, atleast "publicly".

Hmm, I thought ladder people didnt consider themselves "elite". I seem to remember a certain thread addressing "elitism". Only three types of players on the ladder noobs, experienced and veterans, none of them is any indication of your skill/superiority. I think Phan's the only elite player, or at least that's what he tells us Edit: Quite agree Godess, I wrote this before I saw your post. So I guess at least I said it.

How are we elitist? We allow everyone to join, as long as they agree to follow our rules?
Yes there are two groups in the lobby - the Ladder people and everyone else - and the everyone else group is full of people who quit games at the drop of a hat. The ladder people are friendly to others - try to explain the intricacies of the game and how to connect and generally try to make the MP online experience a success for everyone.
Sounds like a good group to belong to, to me -- hardly elitist at all.

SPM,
Quoted from cobras post on page 1...
one thing i would like to mention to all current ladder players. While we are an "elite" group among the mp environment. I would like to see more advertising for our league as well. It was suggested to have a standard pw for ladder games. While I can see the benefit in this, I also see that as a loss. I host ladder games frequently 1-2 a day. I do not password my ladder games however.
Also all are not allowed to join, remember "invitation only"?
"The everyone else" group...
I think there are threads addressing ladder peoples behavior and specific ones addressing them quitting games. I play several "ladder people" each day, guess what, they quit just like the non ladder people, I guess because they join a regular game, that means they get to act differently huh?
Weve addressed "cheating" on the ladder, dliberate "oos's", peeking at a game save before a reload, bug exploits, and several other issues regarding 2 or more players in gifting stuff as well as other things. Hardly ladder-like behavior huh?
Friendly? You not been in the GS lobby in a while? It gets quite heated there. Ladderites are no more freindly than the rest of us. This seperatist thinking has a name, its called classism, a big no-no in society.
Anyway I said I would not expound on this anymore but since you are the head person here, I thought I would make an exception.
Bottomline is that a ladder player is in no way better or worse than a non ladder person.
BTW, I do help others with their firewall settings, connection issues and other things. As for game strategy, thats up to them to LEARN, if you dont have a strategic mind, youll never have one. Anyone can lather, rinse and repeat.

Poor choice of words by Cobra I think. If this ladder smacked of elitism I'd of quit it long ago. I disagree Cobra, Both the ladder and CIV has to be robust enough to stand up to any criticism, I say she has crossed no line and should rightfully voice her doubts, if then we can answer doubts about us and the game then it strengthens how we and the game are regarded. If we all sat around slapping each other on the back and saying aren't we all great(which is true ) then we'd end up with a stagnant game and a stagnant forum. I think another Friedrich said it best: That which does not kill us makes us stronger.
