It wasn't that I was losing, in fact some of those games I was 600 points ahead. Those games I lost were either to warriors in my capital in the first turns of the game or lone units taking out undefended cities (something I am used to doing in civ2). So far I've crushed people in terms of score and size. Your score and size mean absolutely nothing if you can't defend it (much like real life). The true master can do both - build a strong infrastructure AND build a superior military.

I remember Eyes - I see you are your usual annoying but entertaining self. I am a bit worried about strategic diversity in Civ4 actually. I had high hopes for Civ3 just to find it would never have the potential for MP that Civ2 did (though I see from 'Poly that F-P disagrees ). I really hope that, with time, a wide set of balanced strategies will evolve for Civ4 duels.

you say Several things that make you a bad civ mp
and that is, you see your self as top civer even if you know the game is new, and you show your stuff, and get kicked.
surly would you not play sp first to get to know the game, befor claming your self the best. that you havent played civ3 online well thats just makes you a super noob¨ civ2 was superb sp game, its not online.
just commfort, when civ3 got here, every one that was wating for civ to get online for real, was more than happy with the new game (civ3)
and none can say that civ 3 was a bad move from civ2, when you think over the fact that if you play a game, it is not the game it self, that makes you like it, but more the fact that it is a new challenging thing that makes you whanna master it, controll its life and Become God.
And you seem like a quitter to, and someone that gives up. that makes you a fast kill, and i bet its even possilbe to controll your game with maniplution of moves.and even boat you.
thees trix you never learnd cuse you didnt play civ3 and those skills dont grow on trees, even when told direct to your face.
the tacticts in this game(civ4) is by far supirior by miles to any civ game in the past, with better grapichs, and it seems like a tottaly new game to master, but it still stinks Sid meiers civ all over. and all love that stank.
lol but on some parts i dont know what the developers was thinking, when they made catapults stronger, and anyone to say they where ussless in civ3 is not a very rich civ player, catapults makes or brakes it, and they will allways do.
And i am also down that they made the game like they did, cuse if i had the option to play with 2000 players on a modifed civ3 game, rhater than a new civ game with 1 million players, well its not a very hard pick.
and anyone whom dont like the game as it is, go to the editor and fix it, you may think someone other than you cares but they dont, so stfu noob, and get playing
i play you in 1 mohnt, not in civ2 or 3 but in Civ as it is now, if your so good you say you are, you beat my on that day, but i bet your head will roll and your boddy raped by fruit flys.
ITS 2005 get over civ2 and starting kicking the cool

You're amusing tho. Pretending to be a civ god while sitting on a 2-7 record which u seemingly erased. ;D
But for real, who are you trying to fool here. What is it the hell you want. You can't do what you wanted to do, so you blame the game and come up with other excuses.
So for some more amusement a fitting picture:

Cruise has now been blocked from using the forum for 24 hours. "Loser" is also not an acceptable title for a player. Repeating that behavior will get you blocked as well.
It's one thing to say someone is following a predictable pattern for new players - it's another to rail against them directly with profanity.
Sorry C, you know I respect you, but that was over the line I already warned you about once.
This thread is also in imminent danger of being locked.

The Apolyton thread is particularly poignant, and Aeson does an excellent job of addressing the issue. An enjoyable read. Thanks.

Look at page one of this thread, I think EoN called somebody a loser as well. ::waits for people to call him a "tattle-tail"::

The more things change the more they stay the same. ;D
Hey DarkStorm!
I just played my very first Civ4 MP game today. Guess who I ran into? ;D
Not only did I get the pleasure of playing Eyes my first time out, but I had the pleasure of beating him and enjoying the sound of him whine and blame the game for being tooled to allow beginner players like me to beat good players like Eyes.
Ah, brings back memories.

Well I signed up for the ladder, but I dunno if I'll play too much online. While I did greatly enjoy beating down Eyes, I think I may just stick to SP mostly. Who knows.
With Civ2 the AI was so easy you just had to play MP in order to get a decent challenge. But now its much more difficult, so I'm more content.
Plus I like more leisurely game without having a short timer and a fear that someone is gonna march a big stack of units down my throat every turn.
(unless Eyes sends the stack and they are horribly mismatched for my defenses... hehe)

one add-on note to that, I do think some team games would be much fun. Especially with all the new team features Civ4 offers. Hopefully at some point soon i'll be able to try that out.

Well if longer games are more your style you might want to try out our Epic games forum and rules. There still can be war, but it's not your typical short ladder game, and it's designed that way.

Ozzy I think we should 1v1 again ladder game so you can add to my 9-0 win streak. There's no way in hell you'd win again. You are incredibly lucky you won that one.

Incredibly lucky? hahahaha You just got out played and out manuevered. He sent a stack of horse archers against my city with city walls and loaded with spearmen. It didn't look like he built barracks either because it didn't look like his units had any promotions either. Plus I was smart enough to send out a scout in his direction to alert me to any coming units, so I saw his stack with plenty of time to shore up my defenses. So he just sent his stack of horses crashing against my walls to their deaths. That's not luck that's just bad playing, hahaha. All the while I sent a stack of spearmen and jaguar warriors around the other way and started taking his cities. I think I took his city without losing a unit and I think I defended my city without losing a unit. That's not luck.
