Dear Friends:
At CIV4Players we are always trying to come up with new and innovative programs and competitions for our members.
The Nation's Cup Tournament will be an event which will allow teams to be formed based on a particular home country (e.g. Canada, Germany). This seems particularly appropriate since the game Civilization itself is about nations, and since we really do have worldwide representation in the Ladder.
Good luck to everyone who chooses to compete. And Please remember to have fun, and play with good sportsmanship. Like the CCC, this event is meant to bring our community together, not to cause international rivalries and friction.
Sincerely, DTA

Sounds Great DTA 1 thing wrong Not many Ukers do Civ but ill ask magzi to help find a team You're wrong Bantams, there are many British players and many of them are top-notch. I can think of just now... [GOD]DeviousDevil TheMightyBoosh Geforced Churchill1 Rokkit Krill [9]Iron That is already the foundation of a rather good team and I'm sure there are a few other excellent British players to be had that I don't know are British.

It would be a grand idea to form new threads for each respective team.

To be able to use the tourney software, yes they will have to have an account on the ladder. If they do not have one it is simple to get one and only takes a few minutes(as long as the server is nice)

This is an interesting idea. Some teams, like USA or France, will have no problem finding strong players for all events. But there are so many small countries in Europe - they will have to merge or something? From the CCC experience we know that some events can take all day (or night) to complete. So there will be intersecting events. Suppose one is 3v3 and another is 4v4. Who else beside the largest nations can possibly field 7 players at the same time? There has to be either much fewer events than in the CCC or the teams will have to merge big time.
And a particular question. Our clan (RUS) is already built on the national basis - it consists of Russian-speaking players. But some of them live in small ex-USSR countries like Latvia, and I currently live in the USA. Can we all be allowed to play for Team Russia?
It matters because of the preference and enforcement issues. Some players might want to unite on the cultural rather than residential basis. And will the actual location of the players be checked? In most cases it's possible to track IP (e.g. C4F 2007 can do that).

No we do not generally care about the composition of teams or your players location. In past Nations cups in C3P, it was common for Regions to ban together to form teams, like Scandinavia or The Balkans etc. There would be no problem in forming a Pan-Russian Team either. The only hard and fast rule will likely be a roster deadline just like the CCC.

[quote author=charliebrownparker board=nc thread=1178381969 We negociate!!!! well in theory thats what we want to happen. we will have a 16 team limit. so if a country has 2 teams set up then the first team to sign up from that country or region will have priority

Actually, I would like to see the Nation's Cup to be expanded into something more. See my comment in the suggestions, but we could have an All-Star Event for the Nation's Cup (Season). Each team will vote in it's best players (in the way they want to) and they will combine with the other teams from a similar division (maybe 8 teams in each division) and compete against the others. This game would make complete strangers learn to compete with each other.

Nato Team, Doesn't this defeat the purpose of a Nations cup. I belive civic pride is at stake. Where are the best players. We already have a tournament based on clubs/clans. That is the ccc event. Now we have a group of players that regularly team up in ccc events, come together to compete. Why not just call it a RAY vs tournament. Oh, sorry it is RAY plus Poly. I am not angry, just confused. One of the RAY members proposed this event, and others of RAY are defeating the purpose of a civic based tournament. I can even understand a Brittish Commonwealth team. Or Eastern European team etc. Heck lets put a team together comprised of members with unpronounceable names. We can put Gogf in charge.
Just an opinion, Ape
