I'm once again looking to host mini-epics on normal speed or one sitting epics on epic speed. Probably too late to garnish interest for a game today, but I'm going to try for one today as well. I Will plan for one at 12:00 pm EST (5pm GMT) Saturday November 5th. Let me know in here if you are interested. I usually host long games about that time Saturday or Sunday, so look for me. For the one-sitting epics on epic speed I use 500 BC, 500AD, 1000AD, 1500, 1750, 1850, 1900, 1950, 2000, 2020 as victory way-marks (not perfectly balanced, but easy to remember). For Normal speed mini-epics I use 500 AD, 1500, 1850, 1950, 2020 AD. Those eliminated early make reports for all remaining benchmarks, regardless of whether game is called at some point by mutual agreement later. I prefer semi-cton on islands, blazing, and am amenable to variations. Hope to see some of you. Bigben34 Addendum: I use Warlords Expansion. I prefer tropical setting allways as it helps balance various starts... pole starts have less ice/tundra and lush tropical lands must first be chopped before being used. I like islands maps, but random custom continents can be very fun, as they make by far the most interesting, varied, and unpredictable maps, but often very unbalanced. Islands games have 2 phases, a tech race/wonder race phase and then the naval/air/nuke battles which can be quite fun with the fewer number of units you see in these types of games. Hope to see you then!

No-way I'd want to join a game where the land and resources will be in noway balanced and such a badstard can leave to a potential of some 50 losses easy. I can remember with C3PTW getting 22 wins for one such event and right from the start my land was so good there was 0 chance for anyone to outcompete me.
Far too much reward for luck, far too must punishment for the majority of players.
EBD had it spot on with the game being worth just 1 report in my opinion as it was fun and still a big reward for the winner as he/she would gain some 9 or so reports.

I"m here ktulu.
Not sure what devious devil was trying to say... That he won't play any epic game? Because any map can give one player a better start...
From my experience, islands are as fair or fairer than any map type, especially with high water/tropical, which forces rich equator starts to chop first, and makes less tundra/snow on the pole starts.

Bigben34 It was really quite simple. I don't see the fun in letting the possibility of just poor land resulting in having to report in all likelihood losses more than 30 times for 1 game. Huge reward for winner, too damaging for losers given it is to a large result based on luck due to land. Should be one report per player lost to, like EBD did.
