So by popular demand I decided to put myself to the test and partake in the ludacris act of a 5v1 ladder match. 5v1? yes, 5v1. Are you crazy? Yes I am So pretty much after around 30 billion hours of playing the game finally ended, I guess the only way to describe what happened is in these two pictures

dude start playing real (known) players in real settings (130 t or so is just default for a ladder) - there s allways a way to do some settings which make u able to win vs ai god whats surly harder as winning vs 5 bored (maybe even quitting?) noobs

Jeez Gametheory don't you relise the idea isn't to talk yourself up on the ladder. You should try and talk yourself down. It's the whole reason so many people change their names on the ladder, so they can get put on an already good team.

I don't know, I think this is sort of entertaining. Can he manage to slog his way through a 6v1? How about 7v1?

5 people on one continent, MGT on the other. This isn't really a 5v1, it's more like a .2 + .2 + .2 + .2 + .2 v 1.
I thought for a moment it was a pangea or inland sea with 5v1... that would be impressive. But you're pretty much safe until astronomy, and with the tech balancing for number of players, it's not that unbalanced.
I guess it's still kinda impressive. But hardly a 5v1.

Please give this man a break, he took on a genuie 5v1
If anyone here think thats easy, do like GameT, go to lobby make a game called XXXv5 and go win the fuzzker.
I think its ok that you decide pretty much the settings, as long as your opponents will aggree on them
This game format is interesting, normaly you see most good players hide away in password-teamers, this is an kinda diffrent approach and im sure it gives the ladder a better reputation amongst non ladder players

I know off course that the settings do tend to favor the solo player if its set to 1 continent / team
But on the other hand thats how magic work's isnt it

How can you consider it a .2+.2+.2+.2+.2v1 when they have 5 palaces generating 5 times beakers at the beginning? Is there something about the game I don't comprehend?
Not really an elite or even average group to go up against, looks like an average win percentage of 35 with one unknown, but still interesting and incredible amusing that you beat them silly.
I guess MGT threw down the gauntlet. Lets see if any can top him with a 6v1 or can he top himself.

Another thread mentioned that if you have 2 ppl on a team, you research slower- I forget the ratio, but it's a little less than twice as slow. Having 5 people, you research maybe 4 times as slow. That's why in huge teamers, your great people can't research for crap.
There's still a slight advantage, since it's supposedly not a straight 2x slower for 2 ppl kind of thing, but it's not like the 5-person team will be researching 5 times faster than MGT solo.
I wonder if he handpicked Gandhi, and if the other team even bothered to go for the Oracle.

It's fair to say that the other team might be researching twice as fast as MGT. If MGT really goes nuts with great people he could make up some of that.
And in any case, if you can't tech twice as fast as some average 40% win percentage random lobby players, you need to reconsider your strategy.

That income is crazy. This was much more interesting than the other one. You guys are hard to impress, this guy is an artist, separate continents or no. Very good.
I have a question for idle curiosity, did you move your start settler one square to there or is that where you started? I would've moved 1s without even thinking about it for my cap so wonder why you settled there, just for defence?

Looks like a plains hill- you get one extra hammer if you build on those.

I would have left the settler on that plains hill, both for defense and for the fresh water bonus for building on a river.

As soon as I saw MGT playing this game I knew there would be a thread the next day about it. Yes MGT, I'd like to see you pull off a 6v1 on a pangea/balanced/inland sea map.

To me it looks interesting as hell and I play with those guys to and I wouldn't say they are noobs. Be interesting to see more ppl doing this. I know i was in a game once 3 v gunsnroses inland sea and I had to concede after lossing 2 other players. If I was impreesed by that then this blows me away

winning unwinable stuff is all about tweaken settings or take advantage of game settings - and skill for sure. imo it s also skill to find such settings (like the 1 continent per team setting gt did) but they best players not the best tsetting tweaker u ll find out in ccc
