That's not a joke, it's just a different sort of game. It's closer to real Civ than renaissance inland sea teamers are.

And i guess that it takes more skill to get one of the top scores in a game of the month than to play average Ren Inland teamer ;D

OK i am 100% sure the 5300 score is totally made up, it not possible to even get close to that score on standard map 120 turns. From the post i get the impression all 120 turns were played so the score was not boosted, by a early victory. A score over 3000 seems extremly hard on a standard map, that very few players could do, if any, but 5300 is not even close to possible. Even if you the only person on the map this is not possible!!!

I think same tony - 2000+ isnt that bad in a competetive game and 3000+ was for my only prepatch possible

I just got 3133 in an 8 Person FFA Pangea deul.
It is not difficult to get a High score and its easily possible to hit 5000 in a pangea game.
I may have had 1/3 or a little less of the map. I was making 29 or so points per 1 population.
The trick is to be on a very small map simple as that.
So pretty much im saying. Points mean jack so why even talk about them? Its all relative, harder to get 2000 on a large map than it is to get 5000 on a deul size map.

i don't think its hard at all to get 2000 points unless you are playing on a standard or bigger map.

And its alot easier to get pionts on deul map, even so it not possible to get 5000 pionts. On standard the statement is pretty much a joke!
5300 ... LOL

I had a Lakes game recently where I had 1900+ points. That I believe as somewhat harder due to the fact you in in closer quarters to the enemy and more enemies are around.

I've played alot of standard inland sea ctons and my best score is 2356. I got scientific method on the last turn. 5300 is absurd!!!! Please post this under the "fishing stories" thread.

Really getting 5000 isn't as hard as you think if you get a good start. Alot of it depends on your first city - it isn't possible every game. In the game in question I had something absolutely ridiculous like cow + corn + corn + copper, and I drew mehmed. What this means is I could make a settler every 2 turns and a worker every 1 turn at size 8 from my capital. If you are a clever power expander, it doesn't take long to really go crazy. The key is workers, I think I had about 20 of them initially and 20 more by the end for a total of 40. You start by building mostly cottages then around turn 25 or 30 you have as many cities build workers as possible, and start changing all terrain over to maximum food. I usually have my towns 1 turn left to turn to farm, so I can keep my gnp for as long as possible. I don't build cottages past turn 45 at all, so the only ones I have are towns or nearly. My opponents were pretty much all total noobs except the first guy I killed, whoever that was, and I ended up killing 5 people in about 40 turns with almost all chariots. I had 3 culture bombs that game, and I only produced 4 great people (3 artists obv, 1 scientist went into scientific method). I b-lined first for currency then for mercantalism then for biology. With biology and hereditary rule combined with expansive trait and most of the health res possible, cities were all hitting size 20 really easily. Each new city would only build a granary then wealth unless it had alot of forests, then I would chop chariots for happy, then wealth. My science rate was 100% for almost the entire game.

Metallian scored 3163 in a cton, and I saw Knupp score 3350. My highest was a paltry 2517 .
