This is your area to post your stories about your victories and defeats, of your ladder games, feel free to write stories and post screenshots(I can host those if you don't have a place to do that) and generally make a place for your civilization in the history books.
Enjoy

Always enjoyed the saying "I once had a ego...then I played on the internet"
Don't make me make you hurt me in ladder play.

Well since CS was the one who started this... i have a quick... one really isnt much because of situation...but none the less...
I was in a 6 man cton with ghost and Canuk Soldier and a couple other players i dont remember there names...but great people!!!
Well turns out i had 2 very close neighbors and one of them was CS...i was like damn...so i started building defense quickly expecting a rush from CS almost lost my capital right away to a scout but was able to get a unit in there right away..survived..so i started to build slowly while CS sent the occasional unit to come wreak havoc amongst me and just annoy me...then turns out i found my other neighbor close by
So with everyone around i was behind in points through out the game and the other guy next to me was the point leader..so late in the game i sent a stack of 15 mixed units to him to pillage thinking that someone was going to attack him so just wanted to soften him up...well it worked...he lost a lot of units..on my stack and i tore up his infrastructure...well little did i know ghost had sent a big stack of War Elephants to him right after me and killed him...
While i was doing all this i was building a stack for CS of mix units...it ended up being about 30 units when i attacked i took his first city then marched into his land and took the second with about 15 turns left...
Now with this in mind he was a little screwed with resources and position but my first ladder kill was CS!!!
I am sure i will pay for this over and over again!!!

MMM today Uni and I play in 2v2v2. All goes well we leading in points then from 1 turn to the next my capital population goes from 8 to 1. Everyturn I reset citisen to food and every turn it is taken away Anyone ever have big pop drops in 1 turn? Nothing was rushes, citisens and GP not on auto. I am dumbfounded

Maybe Jimmy Carter is your governor. He's over here now doing a book signing at a WalMart.

Most people like to think that there best victory is a clear win by 500 points, but we all know most of the time a win like this means you had great land and resources. And a safe growing zone. e.g I won a 4 player cton with 1500 score to 1140, with a small map and only 5 cities. I'd built 4 wonders in the game. And my cities were power houses, military wise. Not even close to my best game, in fact anyone in the same situation would probably of won, I had the best land I've ever seen and all the resources I needed. No: my favourite was a cton I played last night, I started on a tree barren area on what seemed to be a small island on an inland sea, most of it was desert or plains, needless to say although my capital could grow quite rapidly my production was rubbish. So at least I'm on a virtual Island I'm thinking, strategically I'm safe for now, I quickly located my enemies then blocked up the only enterance to my semi Island with some sentries. I set about just expanding, which with two trees was going to be difficult, but luckily the rest of the map was a tad tree shy to so I could keep up, just:/ I had 4 cities at about the same time as my opponents, but no real military, I was banking on my sentries to pick up any threats far in advance. Anyway I was in 4th for score out of 7: 2 players had dropped and we're played by AI's which we're gamely trying to catch me, with some quick expansion I pushed my way up to third, but the small Island was very limited and tundra beckoned to the north so no hope there. With 30 turns to go I was lagging by 120 points on 2nd place, so I decided to boat him, about ten turns into my plan a weakly defended godsend city appeared near me in the semi tundra to the north, and I quickly devided my forces to take both that and build up for a boat. This was going to be close, I'd built the hanging gardens wopping my score up to maybe 90 points behind third place. The vanquished city had no cutlural borders about ten turns before the end so I needed to take another city off 3rd place. 3 turns before the end I landed one of his back cities with 2 elephants two catapults a swordsman and a horse archer, to my delight it was weakly defended with two archers and a spear. a quick city bombardment and collateral attack and I was in. In the last turns my score exceeded the second place civ by no more than 20. Chuffed? I should say so, my quick thinking had left me with two cities, enough to push my score into third, in a game were it looked certain I would be last. Kinda pleased with it. A third place I actually earned

FYI, I named that forums when we were designing the forum layout, not Fried, so I guess you'll have to change your hypothesis to "sucking up" vice "ego stroking" CS

Quite right; I had very little to do with the creation of this entire board. I was still busy with Firaxian duties at that point, so I didn't have much say. I joined the process late and found that forum waiting for me.

So I had this game once, the map was a bit scrunched, but not terrible. But either way, I built my city and sent my warrior off to search for some prey. One player didn't build his city on the first turn, so the 2nd turn I go to move my warrior and pop, here comes a city border and the last player just built his city. So i'm like oh how fun, so I move one more turn and I'm right next to his city. Turn 3 I walk into his city before he can get the warrior back in and he's dead. He moved his settler towards me, and I moved my warrior straight for him without even knowing each other was there. Was kinda cool. For me at least.

IMO if you move your settler you're taking a big risk, that close though is a badly set up map. but don't move your settler in that circumstance, you know the map, so you get what you deserve if you can't build a warrior off the bat and In that game it turns out you'd of killed him anyway, that needs to be remedied, if you plant first turn no way you should die before you can build a warrior. Totally unbalances the game. And I'd personally say it's a mulligan. But hey you know that If I did it I'd feel cheated, where is the fun in that, just random? no skill, no point kill. I want some sort of joy form killing someone not a report from a foregone conclusion. Damn I'll shut up now, you all know how I feel, about a sporting chance
