nope, my only concern is the one that the first player to get hit with it will SCREAM about - warrior/settler blind moving closer to him and his "scout/no warrior" civ get's knocked out at turn 6 MMV -- the 1v1v1v1 game is Classical. The 2v2 game is Renaissance. No Warrior vs. Scout starts for players to complain about.

This does have purpose anymore, as all starts now have an offensive unit as well as a settler. I can see things from other side as well, that yes you do hasve all resources, sometimes the start placement is not what you would call great. But if they think about what my initial point was you can see the problem. If we keep it as is with the no settle for turn 4 we will have a new thread soon about how come I died in turn 5 on or about 17 November.

Yeah i think this is for the best. I can see many people just planting out of habit and being disqualified.

Besides the OCC ModMap, many of the c4f maps also give great OCC starts. Even old Inland Sea (c4f) version gives you at least some protection from being surrounded by enemies or getting a coastal start. Having said that, I think a 3 turn wait-to-settle rule would help to even the playing field and take away the usual 'I have a crap start' complaint.

players can still do that, it's just that waiting won't be a REQUIREMENT for this event.
it's still an option to all players.

Well I think that removing an option that doesn't have a down side is not a good thing. But when some players whine that they needed to move to get a equal start, I'll just have to say that we should have tried this CS

Yes i agree, but civ players are so conservative, they don't like their gameplay to be changed too fast... run the poll for some months or years and one day... maybe... or not ;D

But when some players whine that they needed to move to get a equal start, I'll just have to say that we should have tried this CS Nothing to stop someone from waiting one turn or two turns to plant -- it's just not required that everyone do it. The score in CIV4 isn't cumulative, so you catch right up once you plant. Sure you lose a turn or two production but in a 100+ turn game that's not very much for a superior city location. Best, SPM

That's one of the great things about Civilization are the infinite variety of choices. SPM
