not sure if smart idea to airlift into enemy territory. you got paratroopers for that. This was a very cheesy tactic already in civ3. I think should remove.

Well said Red, civ mp is all about making the best of what you got. if you start in the corner of the map and have desert tiles mixed in with tundra plains and flat lands, a tiny island to yourself and are stuck next to RedPhoenix as Maya racing ahead on points... get a religion. lol

People always complain, thruth is, its equally unfair and fair for all. Without randomness the game will die faster.
I prefer old way, but anyone can try new things sure.
I find these maps all very good as they are.
Any map shouldn't be equal for everyone. then it becomes boring and useless.

I never knew when there was supposed to be a COT, I think same applies to a lot of people and even whole clans This is one of the biggest problems of COT I think, advertisement and knowledge of the events. And ofcourse sometimes time issues can be too, if its at a bad time. anyhow I think this could be a good thing. A tournament with small teams of size 3-5 players maybe? Roster changeable during the season, but not during play offs? 3 or 2 games played in each match. 1 picked by home team, 1/2 by the tournament? The hometeam game could only be picked from a certain set of settings. What those be I dunno. I don't know if I'd bother even showing up to a game where I had to play final frontier or OCC. Anyhow, with small teams we could get enough teams to participate maybe? And it might give more blood to the community. It's worth trying. Canuck has a valid point though, that if some teams start not playing, then active teams get frustrated they have none to play against and show up for empty matches. We need to have some sort of a system of replacing teams midseason too? To alliviate this problem. Cuz if the season is long, this will be a big problem. Have to somehow combat this problem atleast, whatever suggestions there could be.

portugal and native american are not the best civs in epic play really. Trust me on that. Though I think portugal is a very good civ. Atleast they are by far not so powerful that they should deserve a ban. Not that I'm likely playing this anyhow Not really into this slow paced gaming of civ4.

I just played a 3v3 medieval which was quite fun though the game suffered from severe technical issues due to bad connection(s). Playing 2v2s and 3v3s helps a lot when trying to play a fluent game and I wish ppl would start playing more of those. Also less waiting and more games I'm sick of being the only active FIN player on the ladder in CIV4, we had a clan of 10+ FIN players on CIV3, come back to play you bastard. Help me out a bit! And I'll always play with you any era/map/gametype... except OCC and quick civ or whatever that nuts is

BTW RedP did the same to me when I was #2 to his #1, we never got around to dueling, I forget why, and he refused to report for an ironman that he offered to continue later (but never did) so I didn't get #1 then. From what I recall I offered multiple times to duel you, you refused. I didnt care what games we play, I never picked what to play. I've been #1 enough times not to care for it anyhow. Good that you had fun being there and enjoyed it. But maybe don't drag me into these messes, thanks.

rofl its 2 drops and ya out fools read the rules! In team game its actually team drops, a player can drop as many times as there are players on his team, but minimum of 2 times are free drops anyway I think. But usually situations like this should be resolved without getting to this. Team games are not games where you try to gain advantage by forcing other team report with non game means. Anyhow to the issue at hand. If a player is gone for longer than 10 mins, the other team has no choise but to sub him or continue with AI by ladder rules. The other team does not need to wait for this player longer than 10 mins. And in team it is about the other team if they allow a sub or not, not the team that loses the player. They have to go by what kind of sub the other team lets them use, or play with an AI player. By ladder rules, subs are not a general rule, but kind gesture by the opponent to allow a sub. It is generally just a matter of good sportsmanship to allow subs in team games, sometimes in cton games, but there is no rule that says you must let a sub in. Anyway just general things, I wasn't present when this situation occured. Let's all play nice and get along here. But if rupmans story goes true any, I think they were in their right to continue with AI if the other team didn't want to get a fair sub for that missing/lagging/crashing player. Scrap should never be the norm.

Ive had a few Game Splits happen and I was quite a Good Host before BtS came out so dont know whats causing that and I only play once or twice a day and having the game split like it as been doing kinda makes ya think Why bother playing MP its just too time consuming and If the games are Teamers 99% of the time it gets Scrapped due to connection problems and then ya get really pissed off having spent all Night in a game to finnally see it get scrapped! Play something else than teamers then...

I think a sub should get reports from opposing team always. Only way to have a chance to get subs really. Otherwise it would ruin team games if it's hard to get subs. Plus I think it's a very fair to deal with the situation and a modest compensation for the sub. This is a rule that HAS TO BE IN PLACE in my view. Otherwise it would as said, ruin a lot of the fun and make it a LOT harder to find subs.
As for leaving team games, I personally won't require people to report if they have a reason for leaving. As it should be imo. If no reason, then report to all.
Ofcourse report to winning team anyway, if your team lost.

Huh cats problem easy to solve Just make horse archers cheaper and earlier in the tech path! Or go Buy a Great Big Dog btw anyone know what happened to StoneDoG? And add a couple spears and 3 elephants to a 20 cata stack and you still kill a 20 HA stack trying to hit you. Point is a minority of the stack should be catas. Catas shouldn't be über powerful when attacking. 10 catas kill 10HA when they attack them.. WTH! Catas should be only for minor bombardment of field units, they were not a unit killer. And for taking city defenses down. Not an all powerfull field combat unit. Hell they kill all melee units in ancient era... 1v1... what they do? roll them over? going at 2mph. (ok a swordsman can beat a cata, but when its 2v2 then catas roll them again, and not can.. it's a close call 1v1

#1Catapults need fixing. simple. Make them 0 attack, trebuchets/cannons cost double. Still will be a viable and necessary unit to bombard city defenses and to bombard opponents stack down. But the cata it self will not decimate units totally, have to use other units for that. Right now all you need is catapults, which is absurd. Catapults also can't be bombarded so they retain high values and decimate a bombarded stack even if rest of your units are bombarded, just an absurd unit atm.
#2Lag needs fixing, if possible.
#3Every map definately must have an option for random placement in a team game. It is absurd that you either have your whole team grouped always, or by a game glitch one player is isolated on the other side of the enemy. Allow for random placement to be selected for every map. This is a big thing that would make for a more fun way to play the game. Note, this is only a trigger a player can enable if wanted, rest of you who want the old way can play it to your hearts content. But I know this change would bring 200 new players from civ3 to here(ladder), and from elsewhere too. (esp if coupled with the later era fix.) ( I know catapult fix aint gonna happen, but it would be tremendeous if it did. Just lower catapults attack value to 0, they'll still be a needed unit to pound down other units/cities for an attack. Thats an easy fix. Maybe put them at 1 strenght, at most.) Later era bombardment units arent as much of a problem, but they could use fixing too. But not gonna get into that as much here. Make trebuchets/cannons also more expensive coupled with this fix.
#4Fix future/modern, there are a lot of threads and mods being attempted to fix it/info on whats wrong there. Civ3 future/modern/indu was/is 100x better. Civ4 only shines above civ3 in earlier eras, rene and below.
#5Lower the bonus exp civs gain to workers by 50%. It will still be a good trait aftr this too. But not super.
Well thats my top 5.

and this would have nothing to do with MGT being shaka. nothing at all. They got to pick their civs too, and no matter if you are shaka, 3v1 is still 3v1...

I refuse to play a cton on inland sea regular, cylindrical is ok. I like any other map better than inland sea really. I guess IL sea is ok sometimes for some games, but never for CTON. The game needs some randomness, like zhenon put it. I want to have sometimes a harder game, sometimes easier. Sometimes in the middle. Nevre to know what you need to do to win etc. Changing game situations, pre-conditions. Multiple fronts, possibility to attack most enemies or be attacked by them. But I don't play civ just to build, like some I want some variety. Sometimes I like to build too, sometimes attack, sometimes its fun to try to survive with a very bad position/start.

rofl at you guys I didn't know people watched me so closely... For your info I got no clue who even won that game in the end. I was afk for 2/3 of the game spending time with my girlfriend, had cities on auto produce. was a 3v3 teamer. Sorry for my team for being afk anyway, though I think I didn't do too bad for being afk most of the game I had to leave before the end too. I reported to the other team, apparently they reported to me too, which means my team won and I reported for no reason? heh. I just didn't bother waiting about and just reported since I left. Anyway cya around folks
