I'm looking at setting up a Pitboss game and I have some questions on the game setup that I cannot find in the manual. I've searched Apolyton, CIVFanatics, and Frankenstein without success. So I hope the experts here can help me answer likely some stupid questions. 1) Take Over AI. >> What does that mean precisely ? In the event a human player drops out and no player substitutes does that allow the AI to take over ? Or does that mean that if a CIV is eliminated the CIV is reborn again as an AI ? 2) Shuffle Teams >> What is this ? Just curious. 3) Random Personalities ? Ok but if each CIV is chosen and you pick the leaders what does this do ? 4) Aggressive AI ? I'm assuming this means the AI will attack more frequently but just how much more ? 5) Toroidal Map ? I had to look this up but I think this means the map is more earthlike meaning it just doesn't end at the north pole you can continue over the pole to the other side of the world ? 6) Require Complete Kills ? 7) Lock Modified Assets ?

take over AI means if someone drops, their civ is taken over by the AI, instead of coming to the vote screen.
Shuffle teams is a team randomizer. In the game staging room, you choose if its 3v3 or 2v2v2, or whatever, and then when the game starts, you are on a 3v3 or 2v2v2 team, just not necessarily with the person you were signed up with in the staging room.
Random Personalities randomizes the traits of each leader, that is, how they behave. Not the traits that affect things like production and culture but the traits that they have as part of their personalities.
Agressive AI is just that. Not sure how such a thing can be measured.
Toroidal map is north/south wrap instead of east/west wrap.
Require complete kills means that if you have a settler on a ship, but lose your last city, you are not yet eliminated...
Lock Modified Assets. I don't know anything about this option.

My understanding is that AI will take over anyway. The option is to let someone else take over the AI or not. So for our pitboss game you should check it so we can play with AI if needed and if someone later on subs they can join and 'takeover AI'.

You definatly need to check Takeover AI.
If you need to sub someone in you KICK the existing player. After he is kicked the AI will play that civ. The sub just needs to enter the game and select that civ from the screen and he will "takeover" for the AI for the remainder of the game.
