Due to unforeseen circumstances, I cannot log in to civ anymore as Oculus, and since I cant get my proboards, myleague, and CIV names to sync, I am going to have to change the proboards and myleauge one. I am still interested in this game.
Formerly "Oculus",
Now "Visium".

Alright! I wish you all the best of luck in continuing this game style. Remeber that the point of this game is to avoid war. I know it sounds contrary to the Ladder, but players in a game like this should try to be civil as much as possible. Consider when you go to war that you send real people to die. This is a story based game, and players should try to work out disagreements before plucking it out on the battlefield...unless you are playing as Gandhi. You should also make a rule that says that screenshots cannot be shared until a certain tech, usually Paper. Players cannot make formal Treaties until Writing, and they cannot post publicly about the game until every civ has met every other. Stuff like that, things I neglected to mention in my game. The other thing that should be considered is whether or not to allow Permanent Alliances. It might make the game more interesting, who knows?

Players: IanDC --------------- Isabrata Visium -------------- Elizabeth Plattfuss ----------- Victoria MMM_OK ----------- Quin Random ------------ Napolean Necro --------------- Huya Conquestador ---- Hannibal Stinciv -------------- Mali WarningU2 -------- Churchill Tony ---------------- Gandhi Whiplash ---------- Cathirine ignatz -------------- Genghis I need an e-mail confirmation from each of you along with your Leader choice before final setup: whiplash@wi.rr.com I've gotten confirmation from all but U2. I've sent him a reminder and will give him a day or two to respond. We should be able to launch this weekend. As you can see we have a few duplicate leader preferences. No big deal; but maybe somebody will want to switch. If you have any suggestions regarding settings post here fast. whip

My suggestions is no bench marks they have no place in civ4 IMO, some people like to make cites grow while others dont, both good tactics and neither should be punished by setting silly benchmarks. CIV is just not designed for benchmarks.
Conts large/stadard map with no barbs would be my prefrace.

Thanks, mmm_ok

I don't find MMM or Ignatz on the Ladder. If you guys are using a name for the forum other than your ladder name we need to know your true ladder identity.
If you are not a ladder member, join!

Hi,
I was a member as I used to play vanilla Civ when it came out... Does the membership get reset if you don't play for a while?
Anyway, I've signed up again.
I you need someone to vouch for me, I played with Warning2U a couple of times, not sure if he'll remember me.

OK, we have an even dozen. I know many of you from pleasant encounters on the C3C ladder and am looking forward to this one. For the few ladder noobs here, please read the rules available from the ladder home page.
We still have a little time for discussion regarding the settings and the size/shape of the world we will fighting over, err sharing. I would like to launch this Saturday. I'll post here and send each of you an e-mail with instructions on how to get on board.
I will set the timer at 24hours, so your commitment is to play one turn anytime within a 24hour window each day. If you miss the time limit I will likely skip your turn rather than hold up the eleven others. The other commitment is to play the game to conclusion without quitting. I have playtested this map and settings with 12 in three hotseat trials. Of the 36 starts only one was really bad with a lot of ice. If someone does get a really, really bad start location we can discuss options. One option might be to restart (I don't like that much), another is just to excuse the player from the game.
There is one rule/modification I would like to suggest. That is that if you pop a settler from a hut that the settler gets disbanded. In an ancient era start having 2 cities for 15 turns while everybody else has only one is just too overpowering. We might consider no barbs at all; but I think barbs are kinda fun.
Any more suggestions? Get them posted here quick.

I would like barbs in the game....reg is fine. Didnt know you could pop a settler from a hut....yes I would disband it, if it did happen. One other thing I wanted to mention...for new players to a pitboss game....It is a 24 hr clock,(1 turn aday)...but consider this.....after the last player takes his turn,( say after 12hrs), the clock resets to 24 hrs again.....thus it can be a bit more that 1 turn aday. Also I`m sure whiplash will be registering this game at civstats. The site www.civstats.com/beta/allgames.php allows you to track the game clock without logging into the game. You can also register your leader and get diplo messages and e-mail turn notification through the site.......very cool. Thx

I've joined the ladder and at least skimmed the ladder rules.
Regarding hut-popped settler disbanding, why don't we just play without huts. Less luck = more skill. I can do without barbarians for the same reason.
Looking forward to playing against hoomans.

I have confirmed my attendance
Didn't know about this CIVSTATs thingy ... wow thats pretty impressive.
Colonel you should add the game you are hosting.
Whip ... is there any interest in making this game really interesting ie. putting some money on the table even if only some ladder bucks ? I'd be more inclined to the real ones. Say $5 anty up for each player and the winner (60%), second (30%) and third place person gets a share(10%). Might be an additional incentive to see it through to the end. Just an idea. Paypal is a good way of exchanging funds.

Regarding the clock, for a 24hr turn you need to set the clock lower (22hr or so) as it stops when someone is joining so your actual time is longer than expected.
