I will be starting a pitboss game. I'm open to suggestions on what you want as options. My only preference is to permit war from the beginning and non cton ie. Diplomacy allowed.
There will be bench mark reporting throughout the game. It will be a long one. I'm open to the number of bench marks but I'll likely adopt CS's standard rules.
Anyone joining should be prepared to play a turn every 24 hrs. I would also like to play a few Saturday's or Sundays for a few hours every morning Eastern Standand Time. If you can't commit to playing at least one Saturday a month for 3 hrs please don't join.
Please note I will be on vacation from Feb 10 to Feb 25 so that will be a two week break in the game unless someone wants to sub for me during that time.
I'm played in several games and I see that there needs to be a penalty for people that quit more than just one report. So my only rule that if you reply to this thread is ...
People who quit the game will be penalized by having to report for the remaining bench marks left to report ... unless they are able to find a sub and then that reduces the number of reports required by half.
If not sub is found the civ reverts to an AI.
Another difference from the games I am playing is that I think that subs should have to report at some point. They do not have to report for the first benchmark when they join the game but they will have to for the following benchmark. This gives them a chance to put their house in order but it doesn't mean they can sit back with impunity when they are playing a good game. It also increases the incentive to play until the game ends.
Please state your interest below if you would like to participate and agree with the two modified requirements for sub reporting.

I'm interested in any pitboss game, less in the sessions although a startup session to get the game going doesn't sound a bad idea, depends how big a game your looking at to get all the players together.

Once every month we would play for 3 hrs on a Saturday. Plus the normal turns. Not too much to ask We have 6 so far and I'll start this up this weekend with that or 2 more if they come.

You know me, I haven't seem a pitboss game I didn't want to be a part of. Just tell me when a where.
Stin, there not much to do in the beginning anyway. Just queue in the builds and lets run that week. I left town for thanksgiving for 6 days. Doesn't matter much at very beginning and then when you come back you'll have a thing or two build.
Let's get this show on the road, I say.
Warning making sub report is a bad idea, imo. I'm not sure if I would have taken over mehmed II, and stuck it out, in treize's pitboss game, if I had to report. That game would have been constantly bogged down with trying to find a new player or playing with AI. Do you think the game would have been as good if AI playing or rotating players or yours truely. Not saying I'm the sh:t but....
A sub would not be required to keep playing once he saw the civ. What person in there right mind is going to take over a civ just to have to report for someone else start and/or mistakes.

When the game is ready to start! I'll be sending out the Welcome E-mails 48 hrs prior to the start time.
Thanks for everyones interesting in this game. I'm happy to present WarningU2's first PITBOSS game. This game will be played in Civilization IV: Warlords (version v2.08). This game will be an individual match but players may (once they meet) conduct diplomacy unrestricted including teaming up if they so desire. Reporting will however be on an individual basis. War is allowed from the start.
Please select and password protect the civilization the first time you sign in. I have not chosen to select a password protected game. This game will not be played in the lobby. It will only be Direct IP and providing each player password protects their civilization then there is no fear.
We'll be using civstats.com to track our game. It is highly recommended that you watch our game page (which will be posted here) often.
Commitments
By requesting to play you commit to the following:
* You agree to contact me (through e-mail, private message, a third party or other means) as soon as possible if you encounter technical difficulties or other circumstances that prevent you from fulfilling these commitments.
* You agree to act in a courteous manner toward all other players at all times in your "out-of-game" communication.
* You agree to inform me when you are going to be unavailable for a period of greater than 72 hours.
* You agree to try to play your turn every 24 hours. If you do not play your turn for up to 72 hours then you must notify me in an e-mail.
* You agree to refrain from "in-game" communication with another player until making contact with that player's civilization. "In-game" communication refers to sharing information about your civilization or other players' civilizations, making deals, proposing alliances, etc..
* You agree to play the game to completion unless personal or technical circumstances render it impossible for you to do so. This means that you agree to play to the "bitter end," even if you anticipate being eliminated from the game. This is no small commitment. Rest assured that the game will finish.
* You agree to report games per the bench marks laid out below. 2000BC, 500BC, 500AD, 1000AD, 1500AD, 1800AD, 1900AD, 1950AD, 2000AD, 2050AD.
* If you withdraw from the game players must report each of the remaining BMs to all players. If the player is able to recruit a sub then the required number of reports are reduced by half.
* Players who sub for another player are not required to report for two BMs, however if their position improves they are required to report from thereon.
* Civilizations that are not destroyed and no human player will substitute will be played by an AI.
* Players agree to report major game miletones in a story thread, especially those turns that result in combat.
* Players to commit to playing at least one 3 hr session a month for real time play. Real time play will take place on the weekend at a mutually arranged time.

Warning making sub report is a bad idea, imo. I'm not sure if I would have taken over mehmed II, and stuck it out, in treize's pitboss game, if I had to report. I've moderated my initial idea slightly Necro. Subs get two free BM's and if your position is really intolerable and your rank in the game does not improve then no reports are required.

Can we vote on turm tiner? Whips is 22 hours and it still seems to average less than one turn/day. I would be up for a 20 or 18 hour timer.

I would like to play Mao Zedong of China.
I would like to know if it is possible to customize the name of the civ in a pitboss game because I would like to change China to Poland.
