there's BtS patch already? if someone doesn't play online they might not know this! Well it is plastered in the Patch thread in the Reactions Section....and on the main page at CFC and 'poly.....just stop playing WoW and you might know more about Civ Mags Yes officially the 3.02 patch fixes some NA/Euro compatibility issue with the bts.exe, but from what I heard a few minor bugs were fixed as well. Hang on, WU2. Are you saying that in order to play the BtS expansion, you must have the WL expansion? That would suck. No, BTS installs a version of WL(without the scenarios) but BTS in no way needs WL's to function, it does of course need Civ4. CS Ah, I stand corrected. Seems like Firaxis/Take2 can do some things right.

CS - Great news (re not needing WL) ... I had thought the expansions were cumulative. On the other hand that means the cost is likely more than I anticipated. What is the cost for BTS? And I didn't realize there was a patch already for BTS ... that is encouraging. Why? That means that a number of issues identified with beta testing have been fixed and distributed post release.

OMG where the hell have you guys been hiding, I miss you all in the civ4 lobby and the c3c lobby is so hostile these days because they hate civ4. I'm interested in playing, email me when things start coming together I don't know how the pitboss system works either so will need some info on that

Mostly in pitboss games now - some ladder and some not at a variety of different organizations. I am playing two PBEM games still from Conquests ... one nearly going on a year.
It's too hard to get a game in the lobby. Too many people who appear to enjoy insulting each other and anyone that plays with them.

Ah, Harewood...how ya doin? Are you sober more these days? Oh and I also disappeared into Eve online for a while...but I've seen the error of my ways. Yeah, no small nostalgia here for the old civ 3 lobby. Don't think it'll ever be like that again. Then again, I've also moved on to the slower-paced epic games that PBEM / pitboss provides...even though I've only played a handful of them, I think they offer more of the full civ experience.

F-P must be mad at you for leaving EVE But his loss is my gain CS He just gave me one of these. As for TT, I have to assume that's short for tech-trading. Actually, in my last PBEM, we allowed tech trading, and my inclination is to do that again...but I'm willing to be moved by the majority.... Like I said, I like an open game with very little restriction. Although I might favor random civs, since I don't know crap about half of em anyway.

Okay, so I bought the game, installed it, but I seem to be stuck in a bit of a patch loop. I checked for updates on the main screen, and it said there was one, so I downloaded (and installed?) it and then the game closed. Relaunched, then when I go into MP it says patch needed, so I download it then it says it needs to close to install. But it just closes. So I relaunch and repeat, three times already. Strange. Any tips? Anyway, CS, if you want to go ahead and host, that would be cool. You can take over if you want, or I can help with coordinating folks, if you prefer. Nice to see so many interested. EDIT: I got it working, the manual DL and patching worked while the auto didn't. Go figure.

As to the game I'd like to discuss settings, as an Epic pitboss, we aren't constrained by having to have a small map or limited to inland sea. There are some nice new maps, I think the "Big and Small" script would be perfect for this style of game. Also you'll need to tell me what Civ's you want, and any other details, huts, barbs, etc. Is this a true diplomatic FFA? or something with special rules like only one Ally? CS

I'll play. I would even host it if somebody can tell me how to do that and keep my WL pitboss host/server going. I've successfully installed BtS and set up a test PitBoss alongside my WarLords Pitboss.

Windows XP. Apparently, same issue. Big and Small map, the little I've heard that sounds good, I'll take your word for it. As for diplomacy/ffa...I think we may have enough people to put no constraints on it, to allow larger alliances to develop. I think that would be interesting (to me) and of course would make diplomacy almost paramount. That's my preference. Barbs, yeah, like those. Huts, yeah, those are good too. Anything else?
