I played my #2 in a duel (missed an occ to do so) at his behest. We played mirror duel anon civ picking. He loses. All is well, BUT he claims game was not fair and doesn't prove anything. I don't play 1v1's so I was hoping some of our 1v1 experts would shine some light on what I thought was the fairest game of them all. See below for our post-game chat. Chucky_Norris: cant believe no horse or metal NumberOneMercury: you'll get it eventually NumberOneMercury: once enough for tonight NumberOneMercury: that was kinda boring NumberOneMercury: there was horse on the map NumberOneMercury: near the middle NumberOneMercury: didn't find metal NumberOneMercury: but didnt' see whole map Chucky_Norris: omg Chucky_Norris: if we played that game and switched situations Chucky_Norris: you had no chance NumberOneMercury: switched situations? Chucky_Norris: that wasn`t reasonable NumberOneMercury: what do you mean switched situations? Chucky_Norris: if you were maya with no metal or horse except middle of map NumberOneMercury: why would i be maya? NumberOneMercury: you picked your civ NumberOneMercury: this wasn't random shuffle NumberOneMercury: this was mirror duel picking civs NumberOneMercury: not sure what you can whine about NumberOneMercury: this is as fair as it gets Chucky_Norris: omg Chucky_Norris: you kidding Chucky_Norris: your units kill mine Chucky_Norris: what can i do NumberOneMercury: YOU PICKED YOUR CIV Chucky_Norris: dogs kill all my units Chucky_Norris: i know Chucky_Norris: but there was no metal or horse on my side of map Chucky_Norris: i never seen that before in a duel Chucky_Norris: ever NumberOneMercury: rofl Chucky_Norris: that was unlucky NumberOneMercury: dude what do you want from me? Chucky_Norris: if you think that last game proves anything you are wrong Chucky_Norris: you gotta admit that Chucky_Norris: if i had metal/horse anywhere near cap and you won Chucky_Norris: i would say gg you outplayed me NumberOneMercury: i will post this discussion to bullletin board and see what others think Chucky_Norris: ok NumberOneMercury: you sound like caesar Chucky_Norris: dude

What a waste of space. What was the purpose of posting this?
I talked to my mother on the phone the other day. Maybe you would like me to post the transcript. I sure all would be as interested in reading that, as this meaningless conversation.
You beat a guy with no metal and he cried about it. Big whoop.
If you wanted to impress someone you should have reloaded the game from the beginning from his position with him playing your civ and beat him and then posted that conversation as well. Now that would be an awesome thing for a veteran to do to a whining noobs to make him say, "What the hell, I really do suck".

Would I have to beat him with roosevelt if the noob picked roosevelt? I guess necro and chucky think so, but I disagree. I'd like to hear from a 1v1 expert. I can't imagine DD or AoE agreeing to such an arrangement.

Rolfmgdao!
How the hell is it unfair if its, "mirror duel anon civ picking."
I mean really, Anon = Pick your strongest civ," Mirror = "I have the same resources as you,"
Necro, if you go down any harder on Chucky, we might start to think you like him;) Seriously, he asked you to post for him right? Payed ya?
Comeon man, did you even read the original post before you commented?
Truly, whatelse could Nom have done? The answer is pretty obvious, Nothing and thats what makes this whole thing so damn funny:P
wahahahaha

lol. chucky jsut got unlucky on no resource thats all, not much u can do with holkans vs doggies.. but NOM if u want a fairer game, go no ancient UU's or pick the same civs. same civs on the same map, now that is alot fairer imo. none of this "relying on resource bullcrap". i doubt if positions were swapped u would of survived as long.

I have 2 question:
1) Necro, what did you and your mother talk about on the phone 2 days ago?
2) How often does she call?

thank you necro. It ws mirror map but he had native america so i had no chance to win. I would love to switch situations and play him. Rematch NOM, i load game and we switch people? Rofl, why should numberone do that ? You decided for that civ and you lose. It was your decision. Dont blame the map for that. Seems you like blameing other (other players/maps) for your losses.

OK I admit NOM outpicked me in civs, that is not up for dispute- Good job NOM . But what further unbalanced the game is that not a single resource for either lpayer, so dog soldiers win, GG. This happens in civ. If I were in his situation I would understand that I won because of the circumstances, but he claimed that he utterly pawned me, which is just silly because he knows if we switched civs on the exact same map/ no resources he would lose too. I admit he was nice enough to let me pick any era in our 1v1 and let me challenge him for the number one spot, which he will lose if he lets me have a rematch! (but if he ends up winning dont throw this post in my face)

When people pick resource dependent civs in a mirror game and cry that they lost because they didn't have the resource I usually will take the win I got from them and let them wallow in loss of pride.
The reason for this is that the player fully understands that if they get a given resource they have an advantage and lack of a or any resources will put them at a disadvantage. I used to play maya because I don't like to gamble like that, but if you do like to gamble and are unable to accept the consequences than you don't deserve a second game.

What? I didn't pick a resource dependent civ, I took maya. But he picked the only civ with an anc uu that can beat mine. Its like mali going against inca.

Chucky your one of those that whine and seek for excuses when they lose. The truth is nobody cares if you lose or win and why you do so... Plus Nom is way more experienced than you, no shame to lose against him

BTW I only sent one dog at him. In case you're curious, here is the unstoppable dog threat that made the game unfair:
