Heya For consoles they will be retricted with memory/space; they will have to downscale the game so much; only having 4 civs (not 16); all units look the same again (like in the old civs) etc. With handhelds they will have enough space but will be restricted with processing power.Todays PDA's are about the same as a pentium 2....so if u ask me they are really ambitious with this project. My best bet id they are gonna take Civ 1 as it is, change the rules (eg. cats cant kill) and just copy it onto a CD to sell I hope they make a brilliant game out of it, but this review doesnt say nuts. I could have swore the reviewer has never played any civ ever, and now he thinks all this nuts is new.............-its really gay to have a gay reviewer Anyhow, I just hope they dont switch the new civ to the XBOX completely and f**k us PC-users over; but this is the current trend in the game industry Regards GB

Supposedly, the schedule for game/console release is -
Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo DS in Spring 2008, then the Nintendo Wii in Fall 2008 (and they are saying planning "online matches will be available" but there is a lot that's not defined")
"up to four people are supposed to be able to play an online "match"
furthermore -
"The four player limit is to make the game a lot faster-paced than an epic civ game. The idea is to allow people to play full games that run the course of history over Xbox Live/PSN, which really isn't possible when you have 16 player epic games. Also there are memory concerns on consoles that aren't an issue on PCs. The pleasant side effect of the smaller maps is that you butt heads a lot earlier than you do in Civ IV. It changes the gameplay quite a bit"
there are currently 16 civs "planned" for the console systems, but this number will probably be reduced "to balance"
you will only be able to use a stack of "3 or 4" units as an "army"
how many game eras? "Not sure on number of ages. Gameplay wise it's a mixture of Civs 1 - 4. It's not like any individual one, it takes features from each and creates something entirely new"
Cross-System play (a player on X-Box and a player on Wii) will not be possible
and...
"Right now there are no plans for a PSP version. All versions of CivRev (Wii/DS/360/PS3) are being done in-house by Firaxis, and they just don't have the manpower to do another version. There's nothing about the PSP that would prevent it from eventually coming out for PSP, there just aren't any plans right now"
and...
"ALL versions are online, including Wii and DS. That's been a priority since the beginning. We will have 1v1, 2v2 and 4 player free-for-all on all platforms" (they've made no decision about scenarios)
note: it's going to be a "different game" than the current civ we all know and play and the console version of the game is currently not scheduled to become a PC version consequently, Revolutions as a console game will not be compatable with the PC
Other than continued "testing" of the consoles/game - things are on hold until mid january.......

It's not that I got bored of Halo 3, it's just that my gamer tag at the moment is screwed up. I (like so many others) are caught up in the whole lost account thing ("Xbox LIVE is sign-up is currently unavailable. Please try again later"). In conclusion I hate Bill Gates!

It's now been publicly announced (via IGN) that Firaxis will NOT be including a Wii version of CivRev
Jason from Firaxis says.... "Unlike many other Wii versions of games, the plan for CivRev Wii was to do it in-house at Firaxis, just like the DS, 360 and PS3 versions of the game. Unfortunately we came to the conclusion that Firaxis didn't have the manpower to do four versions of the game simultaneously and we didn't want the quality loss that comes from licensing out a port, so it was put on hold."

I think it would really suck on a WII imagine pointing that stupid controler at each unit on the screen and then pointing at where the unit should Go Wii is for Ten Pin Bowling Thats all

hi i remamber civ 2 and civ3 and i can say as every new version comes out the game get more improved. why you limit ladder games to turn 80 ? or turn 100 ? so you can finish game faster. you ask do you want full version of game or light version of game ? that is not the quesstion about size of the game or there is lots of things to do to make game more fun. you have to limit game and add more fun. i have to say that online pc version is pointless there is so many reasons why and you all know it . the civ revolution will focus to improve more on combat system thats exellent news cause stacking units and just rushing them into enemy is too simple. pc vs consoles you ppl should know that ps3 can beat your crapy pc any time . you talk about memory or speed ? my ps3 got 80 gb of memory more then enough to play any game on earth. and controlers are much better then keyboard and even more easy to play. anyway i cant wait for this game see ya on ps3 ppl
