We will take this under advisement however even if we do hold a popular vote on future admin canidates it will not be binding, we still reserve the right to judge a players qualities as they apply to the job as an admin. Not that I have anything against the players but much of what we do is behind the scenes and the personal qualities required are not always evident to the general ladder population. Not to mention that being popular doesn't mean you are going to be a good admin, nor would many popular players nessecarily want to be admins.

Bah!
"we still reserve the right to judge a players qualities as they apply to the job as an admin."
I think the "player's qualities" refered to are the willingness to conform to the oligarthy. This ladder, or any for that matter, should "belong" to the players. The admin's should be trustees, responsible to the membership, not to each other. This can only be accomplished if the admin's are elected.
The bottom line is that for the ladder to be healthy there must be confidence in the admin's. If that erodes, so does the ladder.

Yes I well know your opinions on this subject Whip, we are "trusties" of the ladder for the players. That is not the same as inacting democracy in an online gaming community. If we collectively do a crappy job at managing the ladder then people would, en masse, leave the ladder. Don't worry I wouldn't spend so much of my time trying to please as many people as possible via our policies, if I didn't want the majorty of the players to enjoy the community here and have the ladder grow. But sometimes we do have to make tough decisions that are not always popular and democracies are not the best system when you are afraid that you want to do the right but unpopular thing, since you want to get re-elected. I hate bring this up, but if democracy is such a good idea for a online gaming community then why did not C3V become a overnight success?
I would pose to you that a successful ladder has much more to do with dedicated players and staff, both working to improve and grow the community. And players that exibit these qualities are what we look for, for additions to the Admin team, not clones of CS.

The bottom line is that for the ladder to be healthy there must be confidence in the admin's. If that erodes, so does the ladder. You can't be suggesting all this after a single controversial decision? Hell Canuck and co. are doing an awesome job. If i was an admin i'd be 10X worse, i'd be all like "hahahhaha you beat me in a game now i ban your arse hahahhaha". Then i'd go and delete all of Tommys posts just to mess with his head. oh btw Canuck did you get my application to be an admin? ;D

What's the starting salary of an admin or do you get a commission depending on how many active ladder players there are at the moment. And can we talk about health benefits before I decide to win all the members over with my charisma and receive a majority vote to do the good people's work.
My first promise to the members is to never delete any post, no matter how many times you say or B@sturd or :oss or sh:t or ret@rd or d:ck or wh0re or F :ock or whatever your curse word of choice may be, even if you call me one of the listed above or worse. I am a true believer in freedom of speech and expression, and having a wide open dialog and exchange of ideas.
You wanna flame. Go right ahead. The post would have to be glowing blue hot before I would censure someone.
I got a lot of other great idea's floating around the gray matter inside my skull. Vote for Necrominous, bold new leader for a next generation of ladder players.

Maybe you should check my stats for total games played before you make a statement about how often I play. I don't play as often as some but I average a least a few matches a week.
I'd like to vote for you but I don't think an uninformed boob who tries to pick on other members should be on the admin team.
Speaker, take care of this guy would ya. He said a couple of untruths about me and flamed 3 ladder members who I would guess care about this community and post often to try and improve it.
BTW, I hope you are the opponent running against me for admin. Judging by your second post, the debates will be landslide victories for yours truly.
Only 2 post. My opponent obviously has zero experience or just thinks he too important to bother. Do you really want an admin who thinks he's to good to converse with the members on a regular basis? He also has no past record for you to judge him and is already known for speaking nonsense without getting all the facts. Crypto is still wet behind the ears and doesn't deserve the honor of working for you good people in Civ land.
Remember, vote Necrominous and all ladder nicknames will be 13 characters or less with no goofy symbols.

LOL, this guy actually believes that there will be a vote and that I want to run.
Just play the game and be happy that there are admins to have a ladder in the first place.

Ok joking is fine, but some humour does not translate well in text so lets try and keep this thread from becoming a flame fest.

That post clearly shows why any form of democracy just sucks. I mean, if some guy like this one will vote, what we'll get as a result? Maybe he's stupid enough to think that he knows who will be a good admin better than admins themselves, but i don't have such delusions.

Hey I only started the poll to see if ppl think we as a Ladder community wanted to have a say in who we wanted as A admin in future.
perhaps by way of a poll and the admins in charge now decide from the outcome
Perhaps it was a bad Idea to start this poll But it was made on the sole purpose of letting the ladder community have a say in any future admin recommendations
