lol, so..we actually had a great lobby but unfortunately a little bug caused it to turn into what it is right now ? darn! so close!
civ4 lobby would basically need to be like GS arcade...except for the disconnexions.. Given the number of informations, a windowed, separate lobby from civ4 would be needed i guess some features could be added that we dont have in either gs arcade or civ4 lobby : a real "starting a game" option that works, filters for game styles, games running/starting, mutes as someone said etc etc

To get this tread back on track, another option that would be nice for the TD staff. To be able to chat in the lobby while in a game. As it is now, to run a tourney will require the TD to always be in the lobby for the entire tourney. As I know from experience, especially jurying the CCC, I played in one event while running another at the same time. I couldn't have done this if not for Arcade. This can work well, if the lobby stops crashing every 10 seconds. THATS the FIRST thing they better fix..

Make one tab for game in the pipeline, and another tab for game which are beeing played will be an improvement in my view.

i agree with the new game and game in progress tabs would definitely help find your games...also the stability of the lobby every other time i enter i crash in 30 seconds...also i have been trying to add all the ladders i see to my buddy list but i am getting an error while doing so so i cant even pm them...another problem is the ability to let people know what the password is for a game while in staging...no way to communictae to others in lobby

I believe its already been stated numerous time but to emphasize the importance, a fix to the crash to desktop problem, and waiting 20 minutes or more when it says connected to peer would both be nice fixes, also perhaps a built in way for clans to have their own passworded lobby room within game would be nice for those who are in a clan.

The crash to desktop thing should be fixed in the first patch due, I believe out next week.
As to the other, it will be passed along to the Dev's

Not sure if this is the correct thread but, as it stands I can't run a tourney from the current lobby. I would like to run them but I need some way of contacting players and receiving messages easier than what is currently available. Maybe something is already in place?....in which case..where do i find it and what is it?

It does, and you can sort the games list by each column, including the inprogress/staging room column. But what people are asking for is to not see the inprogress games at all unless they switch to the inprogress tab.

The big issue with tournaments is that html links are not clickable hyperlinks in the lobby, but you can cut and paste in the lobby fine, but that is to much work for most people. CS

The biggest advantage of gs arcade is the multitasking i think. For example, I could be in a game and also look whats going on in the GC clan room and in the main lobby. TD´s could send pm´s to players in a game, and they would see them immediately after. TD´s could be in a game, pause it, and discuss issues of other events.

Can we also get the list of those in the lobby sorted in alpha order, it would make it easier to scan thru to see who is there.

The notion of having a regular advertisement ever present in the lobby is a great pr one. I know whenever I am on line I try to "promote" this great thing we have to offer. Perhaps once th lobby bugs are fixed and the mp does calm down a bit we will be able to more effectively find our games and I also believe as the newer players play open games and improve they will get sick of opponents leaving mid games and will come to be very interested in the services we offer. As SPM has mentioned we have already grown in numbers after only 1 week of play. Sure many of us are from the civ3players transition but I am happy to see some fresh faces already jumping aboard. So let wait till the patch comes out to see what our true options are. Until it dies surface all ideas will be suppositions. Let's get the lobby fixed and then well see what we got to deal with I do however totally endorse the ideal of community members posting their mp lobby experiences and desires here so that the developers can consider our needs and hopefully fashion a fix which would be both stable and useful to our specific purposes.

will the "patch" that helps the lobby issues also address other game issues that have been reported here?
- constant dropping to desk-top (not crashing; recoverable be a click of the task-bar menu icon)
- occasional game freeze forcing game closure
- diplomatic contact/negotiation issues (a recoverable temporary freeze, but annoying and time consuming in mp

What they can't idenify now or fix by this week will wait to later. I'm not sure about the specific issues you've mentions as I haven't experienced them. The dropping to the task bar sounds like you are running in full screen mode and some other program is taking the focus and CIV minimizes to the task bar, this is not a bug it's the way windows operates, running in windowed mode solves this issue at any rate. this may be a back breaker. i like this game with the capacity to love it,
i hate its lobby !!!!!
the lobby is severely broken, game spy advertises, and that sucks a little, many of its other features, now that i don't have them, i appreciate more.
PMing freely
lobby access in-game including Pm's
hotlink web-links
resolve the scrolling feature
make the games that have yet to start default to the top of the lobby screen, one can select the "colloum symbol" but if the default setting was "open games" it would be easier to see games, and the scrolling problem affects this a bit too.
when i try to open another gs room then i am crashed out of civ4 so i cant even use the civ 3 lobby
can any of this be done? if this can be rectified then this game stands a chance, if the lobby stays broken, this game will fail
what can be fixed in a patch ,?
can these things even be resolved ?
do i have to wait 4 more years for civ 5 ?
