Not very impressive ladderites Our distinguished guest brancius come forth with an invitation to join a large tournament. Some place where we may showcase our skills, demonstrate talent and friendliness in hopes to may-haps increase our numbers by attracting new members and what does he get? Insults, criticism and ridicule Must say I feel kinda ashamed at the moment. That's definately a 180 degree turn from the previous stance regarding the ladder and it's members when all that was talked about was "you don't like the ladder - quit" or "you guys are always dissing the ladder" We get dissed when we show pride in our ladder here as well.

For the next CCL I will contact an administrator early enough to plan it together and make an even better competition.

We get dissed when we show pride in our ladder here as well. Some ladder members display a bit too much pride....if you know what I mean.

As previously mentioned brancius, please don't judge all of us due to the arrogance of a few. Unfortunately some of the better players from C4P refuse to even look at these boards anymore as it is pointless to post anything intelligent without it being trashed. Tommy is possibly one of the best on our ladder but definitely not the "best". Nor is MGT. I would suggest you continue posting your challenge but not here as you can plainly see some fear others they do not know and therefore rebel against it. I would suggest you post in the lobby occasionally. There all civ players would be able to see your tournament. Sounds interesting and a little like what was tried here a little while back. The international tournament I feel would be of great interest to most ladder players.
Thanks for the invitation and all the best to your tournament.

Avo if these guys d be interested joining ladder they could just do, but they dont want to and offer joining their tournament instead - and after playing one em em i dont think that at least this 1 is good "ladder material" - quitting 1. game without reporting and some trash talk before Nah it's only one of them so it doesn't mean anything, we have so many noobs like that in our ladder it's not even funny. Ask some of their players who'll play in cIV Champions League for a better representation.

Some inactive player who killed some noobs a long time ago? Or something like that?

In a game like Civ in order to be labeled "the best player" you have to be the best in every era, every game setting, every type of teamer, every type of cton, and every type of ffa. With all the combinations there is probably close to a thousand different types of games you can play. Someone can't simply be labeled "the best player" when there can be so much diversity in the game types.

I think their official site is here www.the-battlefield.com/index.php?page=civ4champ&game=civ4champBut it wasn't updated yet. No info on their forums as well (other than that games should have been played September 17). And after that they're asking us if our forums are active. ROFLMAO Our forums are very active during Clan Championship Cup.

Thats like saying to be the best footballer you have to play in every climate and every type of pitch! To be the best player you have to be on average the best at all scenarios and obviously the scenarios that are more common carry more bearing! Being the best player at any game/sport/thing is always going to be a metter of opinion, but saying you have to play every scenario with every setting is just nonsense IMO!

Ya Michal Jordan is known as best bballer ever when he was surly not the best 3 point shooter or shot blocker or freethrower.
With many players around it s impossible to be best in every discipline

Ya Michal Jordan is known as best bballer ever when he was surly not the best 3 point shooter or shot blocker or freethrower. With many players around it s impossible to be best in every discipline 100% incorrect, for civ 4 MP. Unlike professional basketball, civ4 has a very small community with a great variance in general skill level and few truely competent players. As such, it is quite easy for several players to ride just on their innate talent, whereas in professional basketball a player needs both talent and an immense amount of practice in a very specific discipline. Also, I might add, Michael Jordan was the biggest cheater in basketball, and the refs condoned it (he would foul a guy at least 10 times for every 1 call).

i saw both michal Jordan playing and now guys like wade and lebronjames - these new guys are much more favoured by refs as jordan was and what happened in last finals was a big cheating bad joke.
Lebron James does traveling on every 2nd move to basket - no wonder US team sucked off in worldcap where all players are treated kinda like the same (even when lebron still was allowed to do his magic 4 step moves)
And even if all knowing mll might disagree that MJ was best bballer ever - it is still true that he is "generaly known as best baller ever"

Well if we are speaking generally then sure there is a best civ player. But not speaking generally, in a game like civ where people have certain games they only play and certain settings they only play or specialize in I think it's completely legitamate to say there is no best player over all.
And tommy I know you're a great player, and if we are speaking generally you the probably are the best, never said you weren't. All I'm saying is while you might be unconditionally the best at ancient teamers, epics, or whatever games you're playing these days that doesn't mean you are the unconditional best player in medi teamers, ren teamers, future teamers and all the other hundreds of different settings there are out there.
