Yeah the mods not to bad, i'd like to see rifles come into play one day in a ren teamer though and cavalry nerfed a tiny bit (say 1 strength point). The game we played today ended up just like any other ren game.

hehe i picked Stalin first and then i picked Japan cause we wanted to tech to rifles first but some automatism made us tech nationalism ( ). With nationalism we had to tech to military tradition, dont blame the mod for our own dumbness ;D

True, i found it funny that it was a 10 player game and none of us thought to change our techs Although rifling is still very hard to get

In the mod:
To get to Steel it's 5600 beakers (normal game speed 1 player). To get to Mil Trad it's 5700 beakers. To get to Rifling it's 6600 beakers (but you do get Printing Press early to help your tech along the way).
It's a lot more balanced than the regular game and if you're teching well you can get to Rifles fairly quickly. We originally had Mil Trad at an even higher cost but because it's a "dead end" tech whereas the Rifle tech path leads towards Infantry, it seemed that you couldn't make Mil Trad overly expensive or no one would ever go for it.

Oh well. I think it requires someone to sit down and think of the best tech path with the best leaders to go with it. As far as PP is concerned I think this is too often neglected. It is cheap and should always be a bit of a priority in reni games. Out of the mod, probably after military trad. In the mod, I don't know, but you've got to bear in mind that it is probably 40 turns or so into the game (once ur cottages have grown to villages and towns) that this tech becomes powerful.
I think those Japanese 2 move samurais are scary. You just need copper or iron to start claiming those forests and forest hills. But more scary is the fact that they upgrade to city raider. In many cases they will be much more effective city killers than conquistadors and musketeers.
Good job on the mod guys. I've only had a little try so I can't really comment on it's greatness. But I'm sure a lot of time and effort went into it.
Oh and thank you for squeezing me into the credits Mook. Not usre how I got away with that one. ;D Always good to know my tireless efforts don't go unnoticed.

Yeah, the Samurai are beasts, but if you have a few Crossbows and Maces upgraded to Shock you can handle them early, and afterwards Knight with Shock should slaughter them. Even with a bad resource start some combat Longbows and Catapults should let you hold out until help arrives -- Knupp pulled this off a few nights ago. If they prove to be too powerful at the immediate start, I've been thinking we could change the resource requirement to Iron and Copper. Much like Conquistadors, which are just as much of a pain to deal with early, you'd have to hook up two resources ... we'll have to see how it plays though.

Oh well if u can protect them with other units, maces are always the most powerful city killers, certainly in terms of hammers to str ratio. with 2 city raider promos a samurai has just over 12 str when hitting cities ( no matter what the defending unit) and that isnt including it's first strikes.

I was japan with no iron against japan with iron. If you chop some early longbows and catas you can hold out against sams until a teammate trades you iron.

sorry if i am a bit computer thick but once this mod is installed u can put it on for specific games and its not on all the time so u can play with it and without it when required? sounds like fun il give it a try later, be good for a bit of variation not just in civ choice but tech pathing too.... good work

Yeah, when you have a mod you have to load it from the Main Menu under Advanced. Unless the mod is loaded you can play Warlords as usual.
