I still think you should reconsider DD. I think you took the line of Peter Parker's uncle to heart a bit too much.

Do you really think your setting an example for the rest to follow DD? You post that you're withdrawing from forum and say it's your last post then make two more posts in same thread, now a new thread that says all the same stuff only more long-winded.
It seems to me you're not so much fed up to the point of leaving as simply trying to grab some attention and fish for the 'no please don't leave us Dusty!' comments. Why do you feel such a need to force YOUR definition of community on the rest of us? Do you really think people read the posts here and then spend the rest of the night crying their eyes dry and contimplating suicide?
Some people enjoy friedly ribbing, I know I do and from my experiences in this community so do many others. You remind me of the guy from Demolition Man who thinks he can create the perfect world by elimating any form of crudeness/impolitness, but maybe you should consider that this perfect world of yours just doesn't suit the Sylvester Stallones amongst us.
It also seems a little hypocritcal to me to talk so much about treating people with respect when your always spouting of this holier-than-thou crap. Doesn't the bible say 'Judge Not' ?

Wow, LP said what I would have said if I cared enough to type all that, but I didn't, so I'm glad he said it.

An admin can't be afraid to use his/her authority imho. I agree and I know that from past experience with another gaming community you must be an enforcer at all times or they will walk all over you.

Yes if unnecessarily provoked an admin should beat one down. I suspended a few over personality conflicts before. You don't tell an admin to go fug himself and expect to be playing anytime soon. We all understand that... I 'll like the same courtesy extended to the TD and all members of the community. Quit telling each other off in games. Its called ladder abuse and is protected by our rules. If someone is being an a-class hole in your game don't hesitate to sent me chat logs.(Please paste into word document as I have issues with saves logs). Time for people to play nice or some size 13's will be hitting some booty

Might wanna remove the HeadTD tags there Whip. Far as I can see you are not a td in this league. Nor a member of GC.

If someone is being an a-class hole in your game don't hesitate to sent me chat logs.(Please paste into word document as I have issues with saves logs). I don't recommend doing that... Just don't play with that person again. We say "ladder game" when we put our games up, but the fact is that I'm not playing the game FOR the ladder -- I'm playing it for myself. So let's not get crazy with the subjective rules. I like them to be clear-cut and out of the court of public opinion. "Waaa Daddy Avogadro, Zhenon told me I was a dumbhead." Be an admin, not a babysitter.

Of course, I meant blatent abuse of others. Anyone can dislike another and avoid them, but being ridiculed in games is another matter alltogether as the ladder is to provide a civil environment where all people may test their skills.
And you are right, Im not here to change diapers. People shoudl play like adults or be placed in position where they can do no further harm to the integrity of the ladder.

I completely and absolutely disagree. I try to be very civil in chat, but if someone wants to talk trash all game they should have the right to. I have no interest in seeing people's speech policed by moderators in-game because X person hates Y person and cares enough to whine about him and send an email log.
If you are offended by someone else in-game, you need to buck up, grow a pair, and stop giving a nuts about what some random guy is provoking you with. Just forget about it and beat him. Or lose to him, whatever you like. Crying to a moderator is unacceptable.
Forums are different, because we need somewhere to actually discuss ladder rules, tournaments, strategies and the like without being interrupted by flamewars and spam. But I react about as positively to in-game chat policing as I do to walking around in the mall and having a friend go get the mall police because I called him a douche-hat.
Being civil is nice. But the day that someone like weaksauce (no offense at all, I like weaksauce, just giving an example that most people would agree with I think) gets put in the penalty box or worse because he insulted some whining newbie that f**ked up, is the beginning of the end here for me.

I agree that what you do and say in a game is fine everyone knows what they are getting into when they started the game ,but forums and lobby should be off limits.
(I added the lobby because yet again it is an open forum of communication where not everyone wishes to read about why you don't like noobs or so and so is a arse and so forth)

It's a shame that folks like levi have no power to do it.

Lobby moderation would require admin presence.

I was talking to Eiffle last week and mentioned the idea of a global mute.txt for C4F we could atleast moderate C4F if the user checks a box to use a global mute.txt file from a website.
Sadly I wouldn't count on GS ever moderating the lobby they just don't care enough to do so or ask for any volunteers and if they say they can't thats just a lie because the lobby is a modified irc server .

Lobby moderation would require admin presence. Does that work well for your ladder?

Lobby moderation would require admin presence. We have a Admin and TD presence in the lobby, in the peak northamerican times at the very least, and we do exercise our policies of a harrasement free environment to play Civ in. How's your ladder Whip? Looks like it's on lfe support to me. CS

There's no special treatment for vets vs noobs on this ladder the rules are for everyone. CS
