At this point in time I wouldn't take any release date seriously until you see Firaxis/Take2 release official dates. Retail companies are notorious for making up dates to increase pre-sales. CS yep agreed

I was on play.com this morning about to pre-order my copy of BTS, then i went on amazon.com and noticed there is a 20 day difference between the US release date the UK one. Now i dont mind paying for software, but if paying means waiting an extra 20 days... no thanx. However i can get it ASAP, that’s how i will obtain it. Don’t understand such crazy stuff, and then complaining about piracy being a form of theft. Whats the alternative, wait an extra month? pffffft. I don't see what's the problem. If you want to pay for it then you can always do so, irregardless of how you got the game.

Indeed, I "had" to play with a downloaded version of Warlords to start off with whilst waiting for my purchased copy to arrive. As a Civ addict I'm not waiting just because the publishers of this game refuse to sell via a download and are geographically challenged. Now there are many who unlike me won't bother with the whole purchasing the real deal after the event, so it just seems an insane decision to release in the USA and not in the UK at the same time.

CS Firaxis are notorious for releasing in the USA way ahead of the UK, well notorious in my book. Civ3, her expansions and Civ4 etc. Hell, by the time I got Civ4 and started playing online many Americans had 100s of games to their names. Joy.

The piont is for most people in western countires 20 pounds is nothing, but once you have a downloaded copy you cant be bothered to get a CD version, not because you dont want to pay for it but because its not really a big issue so the thought doesnt really cross your mind.
After 20 days of playing BtS, problem-free, most people will not bother buying the CD. Firaxis should have a couple of days differance, at most, between Euro and US release times, they are shooting themselves in the foot. All games are most fun when the game is new and fresh!

Does Warlods information still run when in beyond the sword-- will the new civs leaders and other stuff stilll be in there? What is the deal about the disks and stuff?
How will this effect the ladder?

BTS will have everything warlords has plus all it's additions/changes. The ladder will support both Warlords and BTS, but I suspect that it will not take long for the majority of ladder games to migrate to BTS. When we transitioned from Civ4 to Warlords it took less than 2 weeks.

Maybe the expansion could have been called the purpose of the sword. .... the sword was in the stone .... the stone provided shelter ...
Did my sword make toast or soup ...
Stone soup was invented because of the sword?
Ok ... beyond the sword ... sounds like a clever name
So ... on that note perhaps I'll have Vichysoise for dinner seeing as the France 2 team won the VII Nation's Cup :-D.
