Once again, we had a internet connection drop. This time, the cause was a main cable line in my neighborhood. It is not my fault but I apologize anyhow. The game is running again and WU2 and CTrain have 11 hours to complete the current round.

Okay, this is the official screen shot for 1000 AD. Whiplash and Necrominous each moved up one position since the last benchmark. Congrats to them, and congrats to each of us who held our positions since last time. Please report losses to each of the names above yours. Of the players you report to, you must report in order of rank, from the highest rank to the lowest rank. Also, you must report them ASAP, before starting a different game and preferrably before ending your next turn in this one. As always, Necrominous may report at his own discretion. The next BM years are the following: 1500 AD, 1800 AD, 1900 AD, 1950 AD, 2000 AD and 2050 AD. We're very active, completing two turns per day on some days. But since the announcement that I am going on holiday (which is actually November 14 - December 14), we need to be even more active, playing at least one or two live sessions before I depart. My goal is to complete this game before then, so we don't have to take a month-long recess or find a sub to host AND play my Civ. All of you have been great, but I really think we can make a greater effort to meet at the same time.

Why a bench mark at 1950 AD and 2050 AD (only 50 yrs from the previous) ?

Great session we had on Saturday after some startup connection issues ... but it ended oddly at 17:50. You lose your internet connection Colonel ?

Ask CS why the benchmarks are what they are. I took those from the epic rules, and I modified the very first one according to another recommendation by CS.
Yes, my internet dropped just minutes before the end of the live session. It is back up now. All have taken their turns but WarningU2 and Conquistador45. There are 6 hours remaining. Read your email for more details.

Okay, now that every Civ has met every other Civ, I have set up a story thread for this game. It is here: civ4players.proboards44.com/index.cgi?board=let&action=display&thread=1160362128&page=1Just for added fun, players of this game (only) may post there in character, as the leader of their Civ. You may say anything you wish, anything your character would know. You may also lie, as long as what you say is something your leader could know. For example, you can't talk about score because your leader wouldn't know that we are keeping score (unless he is an eccentric leader who decides on a whim to make a score system anyway, which coincidently happens to be the exact same as the real one. But even then, he could only speculate what the scores of the other Civs are).

I changed the names of my cities in a pitiful attempt to reflect the geographic location of some major Thai cities. Hope you guys don't mind.

You are leaving your readers interested and wanting to know how its goin.... I feel like I'm reading Reader's Digest with coloneltreizes self-dialog. Kinda makes me think he/she needs therapy but at the same time i wish all of you played along Looks like a good game, am eager to hear how it unfolds. Let me know if another one f these starts up... may have to reinstall civ4 just for it.

I don' think we have to ask CS about the benchmarks ... they are a suggestion. I think we should discuss them as a group and decide if they are valid. If the others agree then I have no qualms about reporting ... I personally don't care if I report once twice or a hundred times ... I just thought it odd that there is so little time between the couple of benchmarks. Do none of the other players think the same ?

I never payed any attention to the Benchmarks. I'm ok with whatever the consensus is.

I just thought it odd that there is so little time between the couple of benchmarks. Do none of the other players think the same ? Well, you asked me why the last two or three benchmark years are what they are. They are what they are because I just took CS's advice for my first epic game. So far, you, whiplash, and myself personally don't care about the issue of reporting, by our own admission. But I think it is a bit late to be having this disscussion now, since players have settled into their Civs, and some players may want a change that they percieve would benefit them. For the players that do care about rank reporting, I think it is unfair to alter the benchmarks at this point in the current, ongoing game. That said, we can still have this discussion now, in anticipation of the next game.

From CS ... "They are late game benchmarks so alot happens between them. I would recommend using 1000BC, 1AD, 1000AD as your first 3 BM, and from then on use the normal ones, when I wrote te orginal post I didn't realize how slow the early game is in a normal epic."
So thats the answer ... alot happens. I'm not sure I agree with only 50 years between 1900 and 1950 but since you are spouting that I have no right to question it because it was stated earlier I'll shut up now.

I didn't mean to be harsh. Just consider this first game to be an experiment, which it happens to be in many ways. We'll talk about what we like and don't like, and then make the appropriate adjustments for the next game.

Another Internet blackout in my neighborhood for 3 or 4 hours. Necrominous needs to play the last turn of the round with just under 7 hours left.

Okay, this is the official screen shot for 1500 AD: Colonel_Treize, TheCTrain, and Conquistador45 each moved up one position, swapping places with the player above them. With five separate wars going on now, as opposed to zero at the last benchmark, things are really starting to heat up now. Please report losses to each of the names above yours. Of the players you report to, you must report in order of rank, from the highest rank to the lowest rank. Also, you must report them ASAP, before starting a different game and preferrably before ending your next turn in this one. We had a pretty wild live session a couple weeks ago in which two of the wars started. Still, we may need to continue this game after my return in December.

News Flash ... 1500 AD Teleportation is Invented ! WTF. Something weird is happening. I'm sitting next to an Ottoman city and then I'm in the middle of no where ? How did this happen ? It appears I am no longer at war. So I presume I am sent to the only piece of land that is neutral. Very odd. I didn't accept a peace treaty.
