Misinformation for the lose... Download is free. There is a monthly fee, but it's cheaper than many MMOs. 14 day trial is free, doesn't even require you to register credit card info. As for "downhill from there," obviously that's a matter of taste. I think it's brilliant - not the same boring cookie-cutter "now do this, now do that, now go kill the giant rat" crap as every other Massive Multiplayer Online game out there, and I find the amount of strategy, teamwork, and interaction far superior to any other game I've come across. You can make a career blowing stuff up, guarding stuff from being blown up, building stuff, or buying stuff cheap and selling it dear. ....or you can switch back between the two at a whim and not worry about rerolling characters or whatever. Best of all, you don't have to actually play to advance your skills. Skill timers run whether you're logged in or not, so you only have to log in to change skills. You don't make money logged out, but you also aren't brutally penalized if you have to spend a week off: just set a long, intensive skill training. (Mind you, money is important... just not utterly critical.) /eve advertisement off If anyone's interested in just checking it out briefly, come jump in and contact: Friedrick Psitalon Trayk, or Onanala... We'd be happy to help you out, and maybe even sign you up for The Dead Parrot Shoppe, Inc. No reason you can't play Civ and EVE both.

Sorry for the mis-info, I took the wikipedia data on EVE online as fact, it must be dated. Now I know why Trayk isn't around to test anymore CS

Well for me I just didn't want people having the uninformed opinion that you represent Firaxis indefinitely, not that even Firaxians don't play other games CS

as a ladder admin u should represent civ4 ladder imo fried.
If u dont want represent something and do your own stuff u should not take such a position.
In fact as admin u should go into eve and tell people to play civ4, it got no monthy fee and a kinda big game depth. (thats proly the best about that game)

I play a game, Tommy. I'm not a slave to it. You should take some notes on that subject. If you have a problem with my administrator position, please feel free to discuss it with the Head Admin; I won't take it personally at all. Know another thing I like about the group of people I hang out with in EVE? They don't presume to tell me what I should do with my time, either.

You bring these threads/comments on yourself!
I cant for the love of me understand why anyone would want to be an admin of a game he does not play.
Or post so frequently on the forum, and administor it for that matter, if he doesnt play it!
The confusion kicks in when you read your eailer posts, they seem to imply this is the greatest game ever created. I dont know what your contact with firxis was, but now that you have parted ways, your CIV4 advertising has stopped, maybe you were hoping for an extension?
Im sure over at EVE they are less concerned with what you do, as you are not an admin and you dont trot around the forum telling people what they can and cant post and even though you dont play the game!
If you were not admin and you didnt make all those "im a god this is how to play" threads i dont think people would even notice you missing!
As i said above i dont know exactly what your role at firaxis was but surely to consult them about MP stuff (what works and what doesnt) you need somsone that plays it..no?

Anyone played Lord of the rings battle for middle earth yet? it starting to remind me of this threads posts somewhat btw the majority of the Admins play other games too I dont see a problem with that as long as they still do there Admin Jobs in between who cares what games they play some ppl like CIV3 still and play that more than CIV4 some of them being Admins some admins have more to do than Play civ 24/7 some dont so just let them that do get on with playing the game and them that dont carry on with their Admin Dutys and most importantly there LIFES

Fried i allways knew that u were 1 of the dudes who think they are clever - a real teacher ...
u can do whatever u want, i never said u should do this or that. But if u want be proud of not representing something u should not take representative positions. Like admin or teacher.
You r no slave to a game but to your own overestamation to sound clever.
In fact i m just pissed that u walk around here telling people what to do and promoting another game when contributing nothing to the community as far as i see

Tommy, perhaps you had a point once, but now you are walking on thin ice.
Do some research and find out what Fried's "contribution" to the Civ 4 MP community is. Maybe start by asking your pal Germania what Fried's official role in development was. You might find it enlightening.....

in role of developing?
I m talking about ladder community - if frieds input had done something good for the game mp part might not be this steepbrother of sp as it is.
