NO WAIT..... ITS GLOBAL WARMING!!! Oh this coming from a member of the fear-mongering crew... OH WAIT LOOK it's a terrorist, no wait it's WMD, no wait it's Islam, no uuuuhhhhh... They'll follow us home... errrr.... global warming doesn't exist and I can't prove it, I just like to refute for no particular reason except that Gore "popularized" it.

Hi Z a member? I ain't just a member, I'm the president a logical thing to fear in this day and age its also logical to fear WMDs also logical to fear also logical to fear this liberals rather have me fear this made up consept that mankind is warming the earth. This issue is way easier to deal with emmotionally then the islamic radicals wanting to blow you up because you have "gays" in your country. To deal with the islams, you gotta actually fight them. To deal with "global warming" you just gotta "preach" enviromentalism. Z, can you explain why over the last 500 million years earths average temp is 8 to 15 degrees higher then it is today? Of course not. You also won't believe that earth has only been this cold like 3 times in the last 500 million years. Look at the graph and tell me weather or not you think earth will get warmer or not. www.scotese.com/climate.htmSMACK

-Yeah it's logical to fear terrorists and Islam now that Bush exponentially increased our enemies in the Middle East.
-Yeah I agree, let's preach environmentalism. It's also logical especially since so much of global warming and smog is caused by vehicles. Lucky for us, our Democratic Congress passed that new law. If not for the oil crunch we're in, your Republicans would have stopped that cold in it's tracks.
-Yes the earth's temperature fluctuates and it infuriates me that the ignorant think that is what is happening now. What is HAPPENING NOW is that the earth's temperature has increased at a much faster rate since industrialization and especially in the past 25 years. It is foolish to think that our huge contributions "to the atmosphere" will have no detrimental effect. Perhaps according to your data we are supposed to be in a cooling phase or a period of no change. Also, what global catastrophe has happened to affect our earth's temperature? I can tell you that some of those temperature trends were caused by massive volcanic activity and large meteorites.
Don't discount the possibility of global warming just because you don't like Al Gore. It's not logical.

Terrorism is all Bush's fault. If only he hadn't stole the election, Gore woulda stopped the 9/11 attacks on the trade center. He also woulda 98 and the 93 attacks. And he woulda helpt reagan rescue those hostages in 81.
roger, we read you loud and clear. Pollution is bad. I to am Anti-pollution
but 1 volcano can put out more "smog" in the atmosphere then mankind has in its existance. I guess that means nothing.
I don't feel so lucky.
Its just a bunch of pork spending. Let the people choose what car they want to drive. Why you gotta dictate what cars are ok and what cars aren't. Kiss the V8 good bye
The earth has many cycles. There was little ice age and before that, greenland was green. Now its going back to green again. OH MY GOD WE'RE ALL GUNNA DIE!!!!
so the nasa guys are wrong?
you mean that 1/2 a degree right. Ya, that says "doom" to me.
Our contibution gets effected by rain and salt water. It is also gradual. Its the super volcanos and meters that you gotta watch out for. They can mess up the enviroment.
(BTW, pollution is bad)
My guess is that earth will warm up to the temp its been on average for the last 500 million years. Earth, unless hit by something, will return to its jungle past.
Don't you watch history channel? A super volcano, an astroid or commit. All kinds of stuff can mess earth up.
Yup. For the 1st time in earths history, it is capable of defending itself from meteorites and astroids. Kinda like earth evolved us to protect itself man.... its frickin CrAzY
I discount Al Gore because he is wrong. Mankind is not warming the earth.

Speaking of which, how about the Dark Ages? smog? bio-carbons? rapid cooling... sun blocked out... Islamic hatred for anything not of their own and global warming are all creations from the minds of conservatives within the last few decades... Dare I say everything was...Kosher before that How about the 'Achilli Lauro, the Italian cruise liner which was hijacked in 1985' ... OMG DURING THE REAGAN YEARS!!!!!!!

I saw this thing on the History channel about the little ice age. They were sayin it got all cold because there was no sun spot activity. I guess normally the sun has a bunch of spots, but during this time there were none.

You see, this isnt a political/scientific debate amongst intelligent, educated people. This, my friend, is a Circle-Jerk. They are just tugging their wee-wee's waiting for you to take your turn in the center. Global models explaining recent climate change only make them increase their tempo. A concensus of scientists pointing to empirical evidence only makes them reach for more vaseline. Mention Al Gore and they are ready to climax. Once in a while, you'll see them reaching over to give eachother the assist, when they see one is having a little bit of trouble maintaining tempo, because he started to see another side. After all, all they ever needed to know they learned from right-wing radio. Self proclaimed "conservatives" who believe that they have a "god" given right to consume as much as possible. (Kind of oxy-moronic, eh?) You really want to confuse and befuddle them, Zhenon, point out the times they get it right. See, they cant fathom gray. Everything is black and white. You see, in their mind (singular deliberately), you're either a good-ol-boy or a sissy, pantywaist liberal, and that excites them. Like "w" says, "You're either with us, or against us!" Im a little more with Obi-wan here.. "Only the Sith think in absolutes."

Zhenon, I think it's important to realize where you're at before getting infuriated. You see, this isnt a political/scientific debate amongst intelligent, educated people. Im a little more with Obi-wan here.. "Only the Sith think in absolutes." Correct. This is not a debate. This is a few people debunking outlandish claims citing their sources and carrying on without insult or personal attack. Then I see, to counter the sourced material ( which of course doe not make it always correct simply by being in 'print'), people making diversionary and offensive attacks. Where as I do on occasion get material from political sources( usually used as a public venue from/for a valid scientific source), I subscribe to none, I further use scientific resources directly to substantiate my claims. To substantiate means to give credibity... What I see to "refute" what I put forth is often direct persaonal attacks, claims from public opinion forums and known specific agenda propagators. I used Nasa to give credence to a claim and TBS uses a fantasy character from a movie. BTW zhenon is only 17 so he does not understand all this political rhetoric, you have no excuse gramps.

I bet Z knows where he is. Its the civ 4 ladder forum and we are "debating" the issue of global warming by this, he means leftys that all agree hmmm bunch a references to masturbation here. Guess we know what was on his mind eh. But they still can't predict if it will rain on Tuesday.(and a masturbation reference) consensus = truth (and a masturbation reference) A huge hypocrite. Lives in a huge, flys in private jets, etc. (and a masturbation reference) Gimme an exsample here. I DEMAND to know, who saw the other side!!! That would be an awesome T-shirt "all they ever needed to know they learned from right-wing radio" No, god was like.... "you best not be killin that spotted owl. Hell no. You get your @ss back to the city and make your shlt out of bricks. bltch." LOL TOTALY Z I agree here. Don't worry though, I get a kick outa pointing out why I'm right. Infact I'm doing it now. There is no good man.... or bad man.... its all gray man... Don't stand for stuff man... cause then you gotta defend it later man.... and thats hard man... so just agree cause everyone is right cause its all grey man...... its CrAzY I thought you said it was all gray Yes.... Shot, hate ta tell ya, kiddo, but unless that "Dr" in front of your name means you have a p.h.d. in climatology, you're not qualified to "debunk" the community of scientists who do hold that degree. More than a decade ago, the IPCC, or Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was commissioned. It consists of more than 250 of the worlds top research scientists in the field of climatology from 130 countries. The final report, just released, has taken more than a year to bring to print, because it was required from the beginning that the wording of any report released have unanimous approval of all members. Try and get 250 intelligent, free thinking people to agree on any controversial subject, you wont have an easy time. So, here are some of the unanimous findings from the IPCC: "Fossil fuel use, agriculture, and land-use change are fundamentally affecting the systems on our planet" "Most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperature since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic [human-caused] greenhouse gas concentrations." --- Please note, "very likely" in this report is given to mean 90% probability, "likely" is given to mean 66% probability. Among the determinations made by the IPCC are as follows: • Global temperatures will increase between 2 and 11.5 degrees Fahrenheit (1.1 and 6.4 degrees Celsius) by the end of this century over pre-industrial levels. • A best-guess temperature rise is between 3.2 and 7.1 degrees Fahrenheit (1.8 and 4 degrees Celsius), though the high end remains possible. • Sea levels are projected to rise between 7 and 23 inches (18 and 59 centimeters) by the end of the century. • If recent melting in Greenland and Antarctica continues, sea levels could rise an additional 4 to 8 inches (10 to 20 centimeters). • Temperatures and sea levels will continue to rise for centuries even if greenhouse gas emissions are stabilized today. • Eleven of the last 12 years rank among the 12 warmest years in the instrumental record, which stretches back to 1850. • Observational evidence suggests an increase in hurricane strength in the North Atlantic since 1970 that correlates with an increase in sea surface temperatures. • In some projections, Arctic sea ice will disappear in the late summer by the later part of this century. • It is very likely that hot extremes, heat waves, and heavy rains will continue to become more frequent. • The Gulf Stream, which brings warm waters to the North Atlantic, may slow but is unlikely to shut down as depicted in the Hollywood disaster movie The Day After Tomorrow. The full report can be found at this website: www.ipcc.ch/ipccreports/ar4-syr.htmPlease note, Shot, that I have made quotes from this website, as well as the UN's website with reference to climate change in the past. If you think you're being personally attacked, Shot, my advice would be to get some thicker skin. My sarcasm cant begin to keep pace with yours, so if ya cant take it, dont dish it and whine later. The NASA report you referenced, while noteworthy, was substantially lacking in specifics. There are many, many factors that contribute to the ecology of the planet. For example, Mercury, the closest planet to the sun, does not have the hottest surface temperature. That distinction belongs to Venus, because of the massive greenhouse atmosphere on that planet. Nowhere in the article from Nasa does claim that the higher radiations from the sun are the actual cause of global warming on Earth. That is just inference on your part. I'm sure that the IPCC had every chance to review the data from NASA as well, and figure that into their research. Just so you know, you can check out this website, where NASA shares in the Nobel Peace Prize with the IPCC. www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/climatechange_nobel.htmlSo, NASA was in full cooperation with the studies by the IPCC, and they still come to the conclusions mentioned before. I guess now you'll have to stop claiming NASA is your ally in denial. Shot, if you look at the quote, my reference to Obi-wan had absolutely nothing to do with any claim being made. I'll avoid the obvious remarks about reading comprehension, since Im sure that will get me a "Personal attack" flag from you. Baby. Sorry, had to throw one in.. ;D
