Some of the smartest people on earth play civ 4. So I was interested in civ player's takes on the issue. Heres my take. I think that the liberals in the anti nuke power movement are largely responcable for where we are today. Its 2007 and we still burn coal oil and gas for power. (and coal has 1 part urianum per million) The reason there is no electric car is because it would cost more to plug it in the wall then it is to fill it up with gas. California is already browning out, no way the can add 20 million electric cars to that. Bottom line is, with nuke power we can have all the cool stuff like electic cars that drive themselfs to maglift trains that cruise faster then jets.

MMV what i said was perfectly correct. His earlier post on this topic was moved. He has now made this second post which is unnessesary.

I got a question for u global warming "believers". If earth is covers with 2/3 water, and it keeps getting hotter, wont that make for more evaporation/rain? And if you go to LA and test the air quallity the day before a storm, and then test the air after, is the air cleaner? Ever hear of acid rain?
ok ok follow me here
more pollution makes more heat more heat makes more rain rain washes pollution back to the ground/in our water(which aint good) the more pollution that gets washed to the ground the less there is in the air the lees pollution in the air the cooler it gets
leaving out the fact that for the vast majority of earths history it was 8 to 15 degrees celcuis. We're just gunna ingore this one cause it destroys your arguement. we'll also ignore that there was an ice bridge to asia just 5000 years ago. we'll ignore too that the more ice that melts, the faster the rate of melting gets. so yes, then it could get cooler. earth was a jungle rulled by giant cold blooded lizzards not to long ago

Yes, rain will wash out many of the airborne contaminants but it will not wash away the C02 so your argument is based on a false premise, which leads to a false conclusion. Just like a Republican to not understand or misrepresent the facts and then to make an incorrect conclusion.

I think I said my hole arguemnt about the rain was bunk because the earth average temp is much higher then it is today. So making it cleaner wont make it cooler. how much C02 does a forest fire emmit? Maybe we should ignore the hippies and maintain the forest, build nuke power plants, and invest in mag-lev trains to eliminate commuter flights. pollution is bad mmmmkay. nobody likes it. I'm luckey to live in the cleanest modern nation.

If we invest in maglift trains, we could save a ton of gas. But the airline lobby will never let them build these. And republicans are in there pockets almost as much as the dems are. after all, there pockets are deep

The dems and the republicans EACH have their pocket's lined heavily with cash from special interest groups and political action committees/PAC's
Every time campaign finance reform is brought up, it gets shot down by everyone
The politicians that use those funding groups will LIE to THEM and make false promises - the same way those same politicians will LIE to US about what they are going to do in office.
The almighty advertising dollar is what makes campaigns run and the only answer is to reform the entire campaign/dollar paradigm

www.globalwarmingheartland.org/?gclid=CLm-zMvdt48CFQROagodYymfcwLink to website that came up whne I went to read this post. I like how Dingy Harry Reid said the Cali fires were caused by Global Warming, what a total idiot. They shot and killed one and caputred another aronsist that set at least two of the blazes. One was known to be caused by a downed power line from excessive winds. How incredible is it that the Senate Majority leader would say somehting like this, publicly even! Obviously no one recalls the Industrial age... polution was an all time high. Too bad global warming is new to the last 20 yeasrs, eh? CO2? Yea, we have an exponential human population surge in the last few decades. What is the largest byproduct of human (consumption) take a deep breath ... exhale, think about it and you let me know what that might be.

How many breaths does one person take in 1 day? Take that number and times it by the number of humans in the world. Apply that number to the amount of air we have in the earth (total mass of the earth times the distance to our stratosphere) By apply I mean, at what point will there be more carbon dioxide then oxygen?
Any takers on this problem, bonus points if you can figure out the air pressure differences at different atmospheric levels.
If you can mathimatically compute the output of Co2 ommisions from one car in say, 2 hours of average driving time a day, times that by the amount of cars that are driven on our planet, add that to the amount of total breaths, you get bonus points!

Figure in one large volcanic event (which basically occurs daily) and it's enough to take your breath away
Too many people? Everyone plant 2 trees

more CO2 equals greener and thicker plant growth. cause who woulda thunk that plants like CO2. my VAN though is apparantly causing ice on various moons and possibly a planet or two throughout the solar system to melt. to hell with my buick im buying a schwinn. BAN VOLCANOES!
